NFL Free Agency | Every Running Back Signed With a New Team: Saquon Barkley, Josh Jacobs, D'Andre Swift and More
A complete list of free agent running backs who signed with a new team during the 2024 offseason.
Saquon Barkley, Philadelphia Eagles
Three Years, $37.75 Million
Barkley was the top back on the move in this free agency period and landed in a very intriguing spot. For the first time in his career, he will be in a competent offense and running behind an excellent offensive line.
The big question is, how many TDs will he score with Jalen Hurts vulturing so many on the goal line? The answer is, still more than he'd score in the Giants' offense.
Josh Jacobs, Green Bay Packers
Four Years, $48 Million
This feels like a lateral move for the Packers and a step back for Jacobs from a fantasy perspective. Yes, Jacobs is younger than Jones, but he also has more career touches, carries and isn't as good of a player. We also don't expect him to see the volume he saw in Vegas with Green Bay so this move wasn't great for anybody involved.
Derrick Henry, Baltimore Ravens
Two Years, $16 Million
This was as good of a landing spot as fantasy owners could have hoped for with Henry. The thought of him in that Ravens' backfield with Lamar Jackson is incredible.
We are more eager to see what this offense looks like in 2024 than any other team in the league. As long as he still has something left in the tank, and we think he does, Henry should be a TD machine this season.
Aaron Jones, Minnesota Vikings
One Year, $7 Million
Jones isn't quite what he used to be, but is still a very serviceable running back with a high ceiling on any given week. He should get the touches he needs in Minnesota to remain fantasy relevant and this was a solid pickup for Minnesota. We'd consider him a sell in dynasty leagues and a buy in redraft leagues.
D'Andre Swift, Chicago Bears
Three Years, $24 Million
People are torn on this deal. Some people love it while others hate it. We like the move for Swift and the Bears. This is a situation where he can finally get a shot to be closer to a bell-cow back than he ever has before. A lot of his success will be determined by what the Bears do in the 2024 NFL Draft, but we really like the situation and the direction this offense is going.
Tony Pollard, Tennessee Titans
Three Years, $21 Million
Pollard struggled last year in Dallas so it's hard to get excited about him in Tennessee. There is a chance he breaks out, nevertheless, we wouldn't bank on it. He's worth a flier, but he's risky to rely on. There is a real chance he doesn't ultimately win and maintain the RB1 job for the Titans in 2024.
Austin Ekeler, Washington Commanders
Two Years, $8.34 Million
Ekeler looked cooked in the back half of 2023. Now he's going to what will likely be one of the worst offenses in the league to split carries with Brian Robinson. No thank you on any of that. If you have Ekeler, take whatever you can get for him by someone enamored by the name.
Devin Singletary, New York Giants
Three Years, $16.5 Million
This is a sneaky big deal for fantasy owners. Singletary was very good late in 2022 for the Bills and continued that in 2023 with the Texans. There is a possibility that he is just a good running back who is heading to a potential bell-cow workload. His upside far outweighs his price tag right now.
Gus Edwards, Los Angeles Chargers
Two Years, $6.5 Million
Edwards isn't sexy, however, he always gets the job done. The Chargers are going to run the ball a lot this season and we fully expect him to lead this backfield. The only caveat is that we still have to see if they make a move for a running back in the draft next month.
Zack Moss, Cincinnati Bengals
Two Years, $8 Million
Moss did shockingly well in Indianapolis last season when Jonathan Taylor went down. He carried fantasy teams for a stretch. With that said, Chase Brown is also in Cincy and could be a star in the making. This is a backfield to closely monitor throughout the summer.
Antonio Gibson, New England Patriots
Three Years, $11.25 Million
We would love this move for the old regime, however, we don't know what this offense will look like under the new regime. If they still utilize a pass-catching back like they used to then Gibson could have decent PPR value. Rhamondre will be the guy in New England regardless, but it could be interesting if Gibson carves out a role for himself.
Alexander Mattison, Las Vegas Raiders
N/A
For years, the fantasy community wanted to see what Mattison could do if given the opportunity as the RB1 in Minnesota and we all got to last year. It wasn't very good. Now he goes to Vegas to back up Zamir White. It's time for Mattison truthers to let this one go.
D'Onta Foreman, Cleveland Browns
N/A
Any running back in Cleveland having value depends on the health and availability of Nick Chubb. If Chubb isn't healthy or close to what he used to be, one of these backups could emerge. Otherwise, they will all be afterthoughts. We'll just have to take a wait-and-see approach with this backfield.
DeeJay Dallas, Arizona Cardinals
Three Years, $8.25 Million
Dallas could be relevant as an important handcuff or waiver wire guy in 2024. Every year, it seems a running back in the Cardinals' backfield is thrust into relevancy for a stretch of the season when James Conner inevitably misses time. It feels impossible to predict, but Dallas is more talented than he gets credit for and could be that guy this season.
Nyheim Hines, Cleveland Browns
One Year, N/A
Again, it's far too early to make predictions on a deep and murky Browns' backfield.
