Fantasy Football Inury Report Week 8: Brock Purdy, Zack Moss, Jerome Ford, Tyreek Hill and More

Week 8 is almost here and there are a ton of questions surrounding a bunch of big-named players who are dealing with injuries. Here are all the latest updates on the fantasy players who may or may not be active this week.

Week 8 Injury Report

Quarterbacks

Brock Purdy, San Francisco 49ers (Concussion)

This is a bit of a strange one. Purdy went into the concussion protocol mid-week after not leaving the game on Monday night but is now practicing on Friday and is listed as questionable. There should be no way he plays this week, however, it's looking like he will play based on Adam Schefter's latest update.

Update: Purdy has cleared the concussion protocol and will start.

Justin Fields, Chicago Bears (Thumb) (OUT)

Fields has been ruled out for Week 8 and Tyson Bagent will get another start. 

Jimmy Garoppolo, Las Vegas Raiders (Back)

Jimmy G got in a full practice on Friday and is fully expected to return this week. 

Kyler Murray, Arizona Cardinals (Knee) (OUT)

Murray is listed as doubtful for Week 8 and is not expected to play. He is inching toward making his return and could make his season debut in Week 9. 

Daniel Jones, New York Giants (Neck) (OUT)

Jones has been ruled out for Week 8 and Tyrod Taylor will get another start. 

Ryan Tannehill, Tennessee Titans (Ankle) (OUT)

Tannehill has once again been ruled out and the Titans say that they are going with some combination of Malik Willis and rookie Will Levis at quarterback. 

Running Backs

David Montgomery, Detroit Lions (Ribs) (OUT)

Montgomery was not able to get in a practice this week and while he hasn't been ruled out, it would be a surprise if he was able to suit up this week. He plays on Monday Night Football so he'll probably be ruled out at some point on Saturday.

Update: Montgomery has been ruled out. 

 

Zack Moss, Indianapolis Colts (Elbow/Heel)

Moss was not able to practice on Friday and is listed as questionable. There is a legitimate chance he will miss this game. If he were to sit out it would be a massive boost for Jonathan Taylor. 

Raheem Mostert, Miami Dolphins (Ankle)

Mostert reportedly tweaked his ankle but says he will be able to play this week. Jeff Wilson is also expected to see more touches on Sunday so this is a backfield to monitor. 

Jerome Ford, Cleveland Browns (Ankle)

Despite being diagnosed with a low-grade high-ankle sprain after leaving the game in Week 7, Ford was able to return to practice on Friday. While he should still be considered very questionable there is a real shot he could play this week. If he is sidelined, Kareem Hunt and Pierre Strong will lead the backfield. 

Roschon Johnson, Chicago Bears (Concussion)

Johnson has cleared the concussion protocol and will return to practice this week. It's unclear how the Bears' backfield will distribute snaps with both D'Onta Foreman and Johnson active.

Wide Receivers

Tyreek Hill, Miami Dolphins (Hip)

Hill gave us all a scare this week after popping up on the injury report with a hip injury and some ominous reports came out of Miami. Nevertheless, he is good to go for Sunday and isn't expected to have any limitations. 

Tyler Lockett, Seattle Seahawks (Hamstring)

According to Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll, Lockett is expected to be out there on Sunday. 

Joshua Palmer, Los Angeles (Knee)

Palmer was able to get in a limited practice on Thursday and Friday but is a question mark to play this week. There is a good chance he ends up being a game-time decision. 

Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders (Foot)

Samuel is listed as questionable for Week 8 but looks to be trending in the right direction to play. 

Zay Jones, Jacksonville Jaguars (Knee) (OUT)

Jones has once again been ruled out with a lingering knee injury this week. 

Tight Ends

Gerald Everett, Los Angeles Chargers (Hip)

Everett is officially listed as questionable for Week 8 but looks like he's going to suit up. 

Taysom Hill, New Orleans Saints (Chest)

Hill is listed as questionable for this week, however, it seems like he'll be able to give it a go. Juwan Johnson will also be returning which could limit how many reps Hill gets as a true tight end though. 

Luke Musgrave, Green Bay Packers (Ankle)

Musgrave is listed as questionable on the team's final injury report and is looking like a game-time call. 

Darren Waller, New York Giants (Hamstring)

Per usual, Waller is listed as questionable this week. We expect he'll be out there. 

Kylen Granson, Indianapolis Colts (Concussion) (OUT)

Granson has been ruled out for Week 8 with a concussion.
