Week 4 NHL Fantasy Start Sit, Sid The Kid Returns
The hockey season has kicked into full swing as we enter the first week of November. The season has seen no shortages of stories both on and off the ice. With all the chaos going on around the league, you may have lost track of your own players’ production so far. Luckily for you, I am here to steer you in the right direction with a start sit guide for the week. I will be taking into account projections, matchups, and injuries to all of these players. Before we get into this, if you would like access to our premium tools and features, including the Hockey Fantasy Assistant, be sure to purchase a Fantasy SP subscription for an annual price of $89.99 and save 45% on your purchase! Without further, let’s roll into it.
Start Em’
F Sidney Crosby, Pittsburgh Penguins
?s=20This start ‘em is obvious, even though Crosby is coming off an injury if you have Sidney Crosby he is a must-start. Crosby is arguably the best player in the world and is certainly one of the best centers in the world. Although Crosby only has two games this week, he is worth the start as both teams (Flyers and Wild) have shown to be very shaky defensively. If Crosby is on your roster, start him.
F William Nylander, Toronto Maple Leafs
William Nylander has been one of the few bright spots for the Maple Leafs this year. Nylander scored the overtime winner in Chicago on Wednesday night against the Blackhawks, giving him three goals on the year. He has been rewarded for his good play by earning a spot on the top line with Auston Matthews. With games against Vegas, Tampa, and Boston this week, three teams who give up over 2.5 goals per game, Nylander needs to be in your lineup barring injury.
D Quinn Hughes, Vancouver Canucks
As one of the premier defensemen in the league, Hughes has two goals and four assists on the season. Vancouver hosts the Rangers before closing the week with home games against Nashville and Dallas. Hughes has proven himself valuable on both ends of the ice as he has six points on the year and has also six blocked shots on the year. Make sure Hughes is in your lineup if you own him.
G Frederik Andersen, Carolina Hurricanes
Arguably the most underrated addition this offseason, Frederick “Freddie” Andersen is off to one of the best starts in his career. Freddie is currently 6-0-0 with a .958 save percentage. The Hurricanes play the struggling Blackhawks and the undefeated Panthers this week. With the skill of the Hurricanes defense, Freddie will continue his hot start to the year, I like his chances to pick up two wins this week.
Sit ‘Em
G Marc-Andre Fleury, Chicago Blackhawks
Fleury has been far from his normal Vezina contending self this year as he has started the season 0-4-0 with a 5.75 goals-against average. Obviously do not drop Fleury, but with the Blackhawks defensive struggles and the matchups this week, Fleury is a sit-em candidate until further notice. Look elsewhere for a goalie this week.
F Nazem Kadri, Colorado Avalanche
After starting the season hot in the first two games with a goal and three assists, Naz only has only managed 1 goal in the last 5 games of the year. Although people may argue that a matchup with the Blue Jackets may be just what the doctor ordered, they have proven to have a steady defense. The Blue Jackets have only given up a little over two goals a game this year. Also with Naz only playing two games, he needs to stay on your bench unless you are desperate.
D Jakob Chychrun, Arizona Coyotes
A defenseman who I believe has been put in a difficult spot this year is Jacob Chycrun. Chychrun has struggled on a very porous Coyotes defense this year. He has struggled his way to a minus-14 rating on the year and has zero goals and assists on the year. Until the Coyotes prove to be better defensively, keep Chychrun on the bench.
