Fantasy Football Week 6 Drop Candidates: Samuel, Diggs, Montgomery, and More
Injuries and disappointing production have put several popular fantasy football players on the roster bubble heading into Week 6.
We have already discussed plenty of fantasy football waiver wire options heading into Week 6, but now we are going to cover some possible drop candidates.
We have several players to discuss, so let's jump right into things!

Deebo Samuel Sr. - San Francisco 49ers
Samuel is rostered in 98% of fantasy leagues right now, but he's going to drop after suffering a hamstring injury in Week 5. It's expected to sideline him for a couple of weeks.
Samuel found new life after being brought back with the Niners this year. He had 60 yards and a score on seven touches in Week 1. After a down performance in Week 2, Samuel went for 94 total yards and a score on two touches in Week 3, then posted 70 yards and a score across eight touches in Week 4. He had four touches for 25 yards before leaving in Week 5.
As you can see from that own percentage, Samuel was a fantasy asset in all leagues. With him likely out at least a week, he's droppable in some standard redraft leagues, although I'd do my best to hold him through the injury, and hope he returns in a week or two. If you cannot hold him until then, drop him, but be ready to scoop him back up when he's nearing a return, as he's been a solid asset so far in 2026.

David Montgomery - Houston Texans
Montgomery is another player who got banged up in Week 5, suffering a groin injury. He's owned in nearly all fantasy leagues right now. Montgomery is week-to-week with his injury.
He was great in Week 1, tallying 78 total yards and three touchdowns across 23 touches. Montgomery combined for 32 rushes and four catches in the four games since, but has tallied just 126 total yards and no touchdowns.
Montgomery was likely going to be dropped if he failed to deliver in Week 5, and tacking on an injury means he's even more droppable. He is worth stashing in deeper leagues, or if you have IR spots to utilize, but otherwise, I wouldn't mind dropping Montgomery.
He could fare better later in the season, so don't write him off for good.
Jordan Addison - Minnesota Vikings
Addison missed Week 5 with a hamstring injury. The Vikings have a bye this week, and the team is expecting him to return in Week 7.
He started the year slow, combining for 21 yards across two catches and seven targets in the first two games combined. Addison got rolling with 90 yards and a score across five grabs and nine targets in Week 3, then had 51 yards on five receptions and six targets in Week 6.
After his injury kept him out in Week 5, Addison was already trending down. Toss in a bye week, and fantasy owners cannot stash him on an IR spot (most likely), so some are choosing to drop him, which is fair.
I think Addison can be a flex-level option most weeks, so he's worth rostering when he's healthy. I'd consider adding/stashing him if he becomes available in your league, especially if you have a need at WR.
Stefon Diggs - Washington Commanders
Diggs missed Week 5 with a hamstring injury of his own. He's at 94% owned right now. There's not a definitive timeline for his return, but it could be as early as Week 6.
He started the year hot, but three touchdown grabs really helped his cause. Diggs had 102 yards across the first two games on nine catches and 15 targets. He had just 68 yards on nine catches and 16 targets in Weeks 3-4 combined, and no touchdowns left him as a lackluster fantasy asset.
Now dealing with an injury, Diggs is droppable to some. I don't anticipate him being out long, and he's involved enough each week to consider as a flex-level option at least. So consider adding him if he becomes available in your league as well.
Marvin Harrison - Houston Texans
Harrison was traded to the Texans over the weekend. He's struggled to start the season and sits at 90% rostered right now.
Harrison had just 85 yards and a touchdown across five catches and 13 targets in his first four games with Arizona this season. He didn't play in Week 5 and was traded to Houston.
Maybe the move can revitalize Harrison's career, but there's a bevy of pass catchers around in Houston, so I'm not super high on that landing spot. He could be a flex-level option in time, but I'd be skeptical of trying him outside deeper leagues until he shows his worth with his new squad.
I'd hold Harrison another week or two, at least, just to see if the trade revitalizes him.
TreVeyon Henderson - New England Patriots
Henderson injured his ankle in Week 5. He's owned in 98% of leagues right now, but that could drop as he deals with an injury again this season. He's considered week-to-week.
He missed Week 1 with an ankle injury as well, so this is a recurring issue now. Henderson had 76 total yards and a score across 16 touches in Week 2, but then combined for just 109 total yards across 26 rushing attempts and two receptions in the next three games combined.
Throw in an injury issue again and Henderson's outlook isn't very strong right now. There's a chance he misses more game action, and that means you are just stashing him on your bench until he proves himself again.
Some fantasy owners can afford to wait on Henderson, but those that are desperate for immediate help might need to drop Henderson and look elsewhere for production. Keep tabs on him, as I believe in him producing for fantasy teams later in the season, but it might be a few weeks before we get back to that level with Henderson.
Bo Nix - Denver Broncos
Nix is rostered in 83% of fantasy leagues right now. He isn't dealing with an injury, but has instead struggled most of this season.
Nix had an injury at the end of last season, and maybe that is affecting him, but there have been no talks of that. The Denver offense has struggled as a whole, and that's led to so-so outings from the quarterback.
He has completed just 59.9% of his passes so far. Nix has just 942 passing yards and six touchdowns across five games, while also throwing three interceptions. He has 35 rushing yards and a score across 18 attempts.
Nix just hasn't delivered enough to justify holding him in a lot of standard redraft leagues. I expect him to eventually get going, but until then, he's just a deep-league option in my eyes. Be ready to add him back if he ever takes off, but you can find a better streaming option for the time being.
