Fantasy Basketball Waiver Adds: Malik Monk, Daniel Gafford & More Targets
Monk, Gafford, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Jaylin Williams headline the latest group of fantasy basketball waiver wire and streaming targets.
Let's go over our second round of fantasy basketball waiver wire/streaming pickups of the week.
Here is the story we did on Monday, plus Tuesday's streaming article.
Waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Malik Monk: Surging Guard
Monk is up over 4% already today, and sits around 40% owned overall.
Monk is a player I highlighted in this week's weekly projections/waiver wire story. He's been on the rise, and is coming off a 30-point outburst.
Monk has scored in double figures in four straight contests now, and while he's come off the bench in all those games, he's been able to deliver good marks for fantasy owners. He's logged over 30 minutes in back-to-back games, which is the biggest thing fantasy owners should be paying attention to.
Sacramento is without De'Andre Hunter, Domantas Sabonis and Zach LaVine for the rest of the season, and are playing without Dylan Cardwell and Keegan Murray right now. That opens more for Monk.
I'd be scooping him up and streaming/utilizing him in deeper leagues until he cools off. I'd also be fine with streaming Monk in standard leagues for tonight, and until his production tapers off.
Daniel Gafford: Big Man On the Rise
Gafford is rostered in about 52% of leagues right now, which is up over 3% from yesterday.
Gafford is another player I highlighted in the weekly projections article. He's tallied 10 or more points in three straight games, and scored 21 points in his last appearance.
Gafford has grabbed 11 and 13 rebounds the past two contests as well, so he's got two stats he's delivering to provide fantasy value. Dallas isn't dealing with any short-term injuries, so it's possible Gafford keeps delivering big.
The only negative is that he's topped out at 25 minutes over his past several games. That limits Gafford's fantasy outlook a bit. He's delivered enough of late to try in all deeper leagues and some standard leagues tonight though.
He's averaging 8.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, 1.3 blocks, 1 assist and 0.8 steals over 21.5 minutes a game on the season, so you can see he's been performing better of late. You could also look at those numbers and expect this current hot streak he's on to end soon, so I'd understand if you are skeptical of adding him today. I'd at least give him one more chance, just to see if he can keep delivering big.
Sandro Mamukelashvili: Coming Off Better Showings
Mamukeslashvili is up over 2% already on Tuesday, and is over 26% owned overall.
He's scored in double figures in two straight games, combining for 24 points in those appearances. Mamukelashvili has added nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks and steals in those contests.
Mamukelashvili is coming off the bench, and usually plays less than 20 minutes, which limits his possible fantasy upside. He's been able to deliver of late, but he's a riskier streaming option because of his minutes played.
The Raptors are down a couple big men right now, and Jakob Poeltl is questionable for Tuesday. If Poeltl is out as well, Mamukelashvili has a much better chance to deliver big for fantasy owners.
Be watching the Raptors' injury report, and especially Poeltl's status before determining how many leagues to add/stream Mamukelashvili in tonight. Mamukelashvili can streamed in some deeper leagues with Poeltl active, while being added in most deeper leagues, and some standard leagues, if Poeltl isn't able to suit up tonight.
Jaylin Williams: Delivered Big on Monday
Williams has nearly been added in 10% of leagues already today - he's owned in 34% of leagues overall.
He's started the past two games for the Thunder, but absolutely erupted on Monday night. Williams played 40 minutes, logging 29 points, 12 rebounds, three assists and two blocks.
Williams is averaging 7.5 points, 5.6 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.7 blocks and 0.5 steals over 20.5 minutes a night over 51 contests (11 starts). He's capable of taking on more any night, but his upside is determined on how many teammates are out.
Isaiah Hartenstein, Chet Holmgren and Jalen Williams were all out for Monday's game, which opened the door for Jaylin Williams to shine. He could continue to deliver big if those three continue to miss games.
Jaylin Williams is worth adding in some deeper leagues, but he will only be usable in those leagues if the other three post options remain out in games to come. He could sneak into standard leagues as a streaming option if that trio misses the team's next game, so be watching that closely.
