Should You Add Kevin Porter Jr. or Bobby Portis?
The top waiver wire pickups for Thursday, April 10 are Milwaukee Bucks in Porter and Portis. The Bucks are one of the teams in action on Thursday, and they also play Friday and Sunday yet, so you can still get three games out of both players.
Porter has thrived without Damian Lillard around, and has really turned things up of late. Over the past three games, Porter has combined for 65 points, 24 rebounds, 17 assists and seven steals. He's done most of that off the bench, starting once and logging 99 minutes in those three games.
Porter has scored at least eight points in each of the team's past six games, and has four games with 20 or more points in that span. What makes him such a good fantasy asset is that he's been filling up the stat sheet, not just scoring.
Porter is projected for 19 fantasy points tonight. I have higher hopes for Porter in what is a slightly-above average fantasy matchup against the Pelicans.
I'd say Porter is a must-add and player fantasy asset in deeper leagues. Him maybe coming off the bench is really the only concern, but based on his past three games, I think you have to give him a go.
I also wouldn't mind utilizing him in a standard league, but I'd probably only do that if he is part of the team's starting lineup on Thursday. Keep tabs on that and scoop Porter up if he does get the starting nod.
Portis just returned from a 25-game suspension, but was great in his first action.
He logged 29 minutes off the bench, tallying 18 points, 10 rebounds, two steals and one block and assist. Portis coming off the bench isn't as scary a thought as with Porter, because Portis has delivered good fantasy numbers for years in this bench role.
Portis is a double-double threat every night, even off the bench, and he's got a safe fantasy floor because of it. He's got a decent fantasy ceiling too, especially when matchups are favorable.
He's projected for 32 fantasy points tonight against New Orleans, which is a very favorable matchup for him. With that in mind, I'd call Portis a must-start fantasy asset in deeper leagues, and he could also be thrown into standard league lineups tonight.
His matchups later this week get tougher, so he might fall back to a deep-league option only then, but I think you should be all in on Portis on Thursday night.
Should You Add Jaden McDaniels?
McDaniels had a stretch earlier this season where he was a daily fantasy starter for any format. He's regressed a bit from that point, but is coming off a strong game in his last appearance.
Against the Bucks on Tuesday, McDaniels had 13 points, five rebounds, three assists and one block over 30 minutes. It was his first time in double figures as a scorer in three games, and he's failed to reach double figures in five of the past nine outings.
McDaniels is projected for 27 fantasy points on Thursday against the Grizzlies. It's a pretty favorable fantasy matchup for him, and he's got another similar matchup on Friday against the Nets. His last game against the Jazz is a bit tougher, but McDaniels could be added and started in all leagues the next two nights.
McDaniels needs to be utilized in deeper leagues for sure, and if you are looking for more help in a standard league, McDaniels could be available and looks like a pretty solid asset for at least the next two games.
Should You Add Caris LeVert?
LeVert has scored in double figures in all five of his games this month, so he's another waiver wire possibility for the last few games.
In those games, LeVert has accumulated 72 points, 21 rebounds, 14 assists, five steals and two blocks over 128 minutes played - he's come off the bench for each game, playing between 19-29 minutes. LeVert has logged at least 24 minutes in four of those contests, and has been over 28 minutes in the past two.
LeVert is projected for 26 fantasy points on Thursday against the Nets. It's a pretty favorable matchup for him, and he's got an even better matchup on Friday against the 76ers. LeVert ends the season with a tougher matchup against the Magic.
Much like McDaniels, LeVert is a good fantasy asset for each of the next two days. He needs to be started in deeper leagues for those two games, and could be a standard league asset for those looking for some help. You might want to look elsewhere for help in the season finale, but based on what we've seen from LeVert of late, he's at least a deep-league option for that final contest.
Should You Add Scotty Pippen Jr.?
Pippen has also scored in double figures in every game so far this month.
He's racked up 52 points, 14 assists, 10 rebounds and four blocks and steals in four games, which includes one start. He's logged 102 minutes total in those games.
Pippen is projected for 24 fantasy points on Thursday in a battle against the Timberwolves. It's actually a pretty tough fantasy matchup on paper. In two previous games against Minnesota, Pippen has accumulated just 11 points, five rebounds, seven assists and five steals.
He's got a favorable matchup on Friday against the Nuggets, before another tougher test against the Mavericks to cap the season on Sunday.
With the tougher test on Thursday, I like Pippen more as a deep-league starting option only. He might be worth streaming on Friday, but depending on how he looks tonight, fantasy owners might not be willing to utilize Pippen. I think he could start in most deeper leagues the rest of the regular season though.
Should You Add Davion Mitchell?
Mitchell is yet another player who has scored in double figures in every game this month.
In five games, all off the bench, Mitchell has logged 181 minutes, 73 points, 36 assists, 17 rebounds, 12 steals and two blocks. He's playing a ton despite coming off the bench, and is filling the stat sheet pretty well.
He's got no game scheduled today, but has favorable fantasy matchups on both Friday against the Pelicans and Sunday against the Wizards. As long as Mitchell suits up for both games, he's a good streaming option to take advantage of.
I'd call Mitchell a must-start fantasy player in deeper leagues for his final two games of the season. Given the favorable matchups and way he's played of late, I also wouldn't mind unleashing Mitchell in standard leagues too.
It really comes down to who your fantasy team has available and if there's room to add Mitchell. There's a good chance one of your regular starters is going to miss a game, and Mitchell is likely to play given the Heat are battling for playoff seeding.
