More Fantasy Hockey Blockbuster Signing Breakdowns: Mitch Marner, Brad Marchand and More
Shelmo breaks down the rest of the blockbuster signings ahead of the free agent frenzy opening up on July 1.
Still here, folks? We are finally going to go through the rest of the blockbuster signings that will have a fantasy league impact that happened before the free agent frenzy - here's the other story. Again, if we went through all of the signings we would be here forever, and a lot of the signings that have happened are minor league or depth players, and will have no immediate impact on your fantasy league.
There are some BIG signings in this one as we wrap things up and before the unrestricted free agents officially hit free agency.
Let's get right back into the rest of everything that happened prior to July 1!

Aaron Ekblad - Florida Panthers - $6.1M AAV - Eight Years
The blueline bulwark is back for eight more years in the Sunshine state after a second consecutive Stanley Cup. The Panthers look absolutely dangerous signing their three biggest free agents, and there is no way they don't continue to be favorites for next year. Ekblad really shores up their blueline and is a key player in their dynasty success, for a hometown friendly deal.
Ekblad had three goals, 30 assists, and 11 powerplay points in 56 games as a defenseman. He also had 106 shots on goal, 89 hits, and 64 blocked shots.
Evan Bouchard - Edmonton Oilers - $10.5M AAV - Four Years
There are a lot of mixed feelings about Bouchard. He was outpaced during the postseason and seemed to not have the ability to quite keep up and at times looked out of depth as a top pair defenseman. That said, the Oilers as a whole looked like guests in the Finals, even though it was their second consecutive time at the dance.
Bouchard does put out solid numbers throughout the regular season, though. It helps being on the ice with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and Bouchard also dishes apples like nobody's business and slaps pucks at the net like they are going out of style. A fringe keeper player for your fantasy league, without a doubt.
Bouchard had 14 goals, 53 assists, and 26 powerplay points in 82 games as a defenseman. He also had 235 shots on goal, 31 hits, and 108 blocked shots.
Mitch Marner - Vegas Golden Knights - $12M AAV - Eight Years
The hometown dream is over for Marner, as he finally moves on from the city of Toronto. This is the fresh start Marner needed after getting chased out of town by passionate Maple Leafs' fans after another disappointing postseason.
Marner will be looking to his future in the desert and will be playing alongside Jack Eichel in a tax-free state and won't have the pressure of the hockey universe to pick apart every mistake, or perceived mistake he makes.
Again, Marner is a round-one keeper in your fantasy league. He is a perennial 100-point player with elite deployment, who is still on a top contending team.
Marner had 27 goals, 75 assists, and 33 powerplay points as a forward in 81 games played. He also had 173 shots on goal, 49 hits, and 40 blocked shots.
Brad Marchand - Florida Panthers - $5.25M AAV - Six Years
While I am not shocked that Florida got all three of Edblad, Sam Bennett and Marchand back, I am surprised at the term of Marchand's deal. Six years is steep considering he is 37 years old and recently had back surgery.
That said, it's not just his on-ice performance that this team and organization feel adds value to the player. While he is the rat, and a pest to play against, there is no doubting his passion and level of compete. Marchand is hated on the ice, and loved off the ice. Notoriously a genuinely nice guy who elevates everyone around him, his contributions to this dynasty in the making will be evident next season and beyond. Take that, Boston!
Marchand had 23 goals, 28 assists, and 13 powerplay points in 71 games played as a forward. He also had 194 shots on goal, 81 hits, and 34 blocked shots.
Ivan Provorov - Columbus Blue Jackets - $8.5M AAV - Seven Years
Rounding out the blueline signings for the Blue Jackets, and a huge addition to the franchise, is bringing back Provorov. He will be quarterbacking the second powerplay unit and being the number two offensive weapon behind Zach Werenski for the better part of the next decade. A huge signing for Columbus which shores up half of their blueline for the foreseeable future.
Provorov had seven goals, 26 assists, and three powerplay points in 82 games as a defenseman. He also had 100 shots on goal, 28 hits, and 127 blocked shots.
Patrick Kane - Detroit Red Wings - $7M AAV - One Year
Patty Kane has re-upped with the Red Wings. Like Corey Perry, Kane just keeps going, and is a serious contributor. The former face of American hockey has found a new birth into the league and the Red Wings have given him a chance to compete again.
I was surprised just how well Kaner got into a scoring groove again last year, and while $7M AAV is quite steep, this is likely a strategic move to help get to the cap floor this year at a term of only one year.
Kane had 21 goals, 38 assists, and 29 powerplay points in 72 games as a forward. He also had 175 shots on goal, 19 hits, and 23 blocked shots.
