Alexander Ovechkin is a man on a mission. Sure he would like to add another scoring title, but more importantly another Stanley Cup. However, with his 61 points, 36 goals, and 25 assists, Ovechkin has continued to be the well-oiled machine he has been since the start of his career. Each goal he scores brings him closer and closer to the famous record of 894 goals held by the legend, Wayne Gretzky.
The previous season he overtook all-time greats such as Marcel Dion, Brett Hull, and Jaromir Jagr in terms of goals scored all time. Most recently, earlier this season, he took the second overall position by surpassing Gordie Howe.
Age and health are Ovechkin's biggest obstacles as he is 79 goals away from the record. However, Ovechkin has remained incredibly healthy throughout his career, especially for a six-foot-three forward who doesn't shy away from the physical game.
