Week 5 Fantasy Hockey Waiver Wire Pickups: Add Troy Terry Now!

Justin Royce Nov 6th 4:37 PM EDT.

It may be hard to believe but we are already five weeks into the 2021-22 NHL season. At this point, players have started to round into form. Whether a player got off to a smoking hot start, or they started slow, by now the majority of players have regressed to the mean. Maybe a few of your players have gotten injured or just aren’t off to the start you thought they would be, either way, there are still a bunch of great players available on the waiver wire. Before getting into this FantasySP is developing betting tools to provide users with something nobody else in the industry can offer. Upgrade to an Edge+ account today and get 50% off your first year at just $99.99 for the year. After a year, the price is going to increase to $199. Lock in your special early-bird deal today!

Top Waiver Wire Pickups

F Troy Terry, Anaheim Ducks

The first player we will look at is Ducks forward and rising superstar Troy Terry. Terry currently has five goals and two assists in his last five games. Terry is available in more leagues than he should be given his hot start to the season. Taking the right-wing slot on the Ducks’ top line has given Terry a fresh look this year; playing alongside Ryan Getzlaf and Adam Henrique has been great for the young star. With three games next week, two against Vancouver and one against Seattle, Terry should be set up for another great week.

F Brock Nelson, New York Islanders

?s=20

A player who is available in over 50 percent of leagues is Islanders forward Brock Nelson. After a four-goal game against Montreal, Nelson has finally started heating up despite a slow start to the campaign. Centering the second line of a solid Islanders offense is starting to pay its dividends, as Nelson has put up five goals in his last three games. Nelson is a great addition for any team that is missing scoring depth or has suffered a couple of injuries this year. Even if your team does not have any injuries, Nelson is still a great addition.

D Bowen Byram, Colorado Avalanche

Another member of the Avalanche blue line is a second-year player who finally seems to be getting his NHL legs under him. Byram is only owned in 26.1 % of all leagues. Byram, who currently has eight points on the year, is settling in nicely in his second season. Byram has found his way onto the first powerplay unit which has given him more scoring opportunities. Do not let the fact he only plays two games this week scare you off of him. If you wait to pick him up, he will be gone.

D Moritz Seider, Detroit Red Wings

The Red Wings may not be the greatest team this year, but they do have a few players with fantasy value. One of these players is Moritz Seider. Seider has been a solid offensive defenseman this year, chipping in nine assists on the year. The defense market is relatively bare right now, so jump at any chance you can to pick up a defenseman. Seider has also found a key role on the Red Wings’ top powerplay unit. Although the Red Wings have not been great this year, look for Seider to keep piling up the fantasy points.

G Mikko Koskinen, Edmonton Oilers

The Oilers' goalie is still available in a shocking 56 percent of leagues. With four wins in his last four starts, Koskinen is anchoring one of the best teams in the league this year. Edmonton is currently 9-1-0 on the young season, with Koskinen getting seven of those wins. At this point in the year, it is shocking to see a goalie of his caliber still available in so many fantasy hockey leagues. The Oilers play four games this week with no back-to-backs. This makes this a potential three-start week for the Oilers' netminder.
