Week 8 Running Backs to Target
As the halfway point of football season is upon us, there are some running backs that have risen on the list of potential waiver pickups. If your fantasy team is struggling or you need someone to fill a spot for a bye week, these are a few suggestions.
Alex Collins, Baltimore Ravens | 52% OWN
The Baltimore Ravens are still struggling to pull themselves together this season, but Alex Collins is a decent option for a running back. He sits behind Javorius Allen but has managed to produce double digit touches over the last three weeks. Allen hasn't seen much action in the touchdown department but carried 10 times for 30 yards on Sunday.
Dion Lewis, New England Patriots | 49% OWN
Dion Lewis has been producing for the Patriots this season and is clearly their go to guy. The Patriots still use all their running backs during games, but Lewis has managed to lead the team in rushing yards. In Sunday night's game he carried 13 times for 76 yards. If he is available in your league pick him up! It is clear that he will get the ball and do work even with all the backs getting time on the field.
Latavius Murray, Minnesota Vikings | 68% OWN
While Murray has a higher own percentage than most, he is still available in leagues and is an option that shouldn't be ignored. Murray carried 18 times for 113 yards and a touchdown on Sunday. He surpassed Jerick McKinnon in touches and will be splitting time on the field. Even though he isn't the number 1, the Vikings can trust him with the ball moving forward. He made some big plays on Sunday and this week he will face the Cleveland Browns. The chances for a run heavy game are huge!
Jalen Richard, Oakland Raiders | 14% OWN
With the possible suspension of Marshawn Lynch, the Raiders will look to Jalen Richard to fill in at running back. Richard caught 4 passes for 45 yards after Lynch was ejected from the game the other day. He might be best used as a bye week replacement and not a long term option. Lynch appealed his suspension but the decision won't be handed down until after waivers this week.
DeAndre Washington, Oakland Raiders | 5% OWN
Another back on the Raiders to look at is DeAndre Washington. He is in the same spot as Jalen Richard, filling in for Lynch. Washington ended up scoring a touchdown and leading the team in rushing for 33 yards with 9 carries. Again with Lynch on the field, Washington might not see the ball as much, but he proved he can get the job done.
At this point in the season your team might be out of it or you could be one win away from staying competitive. It is easy to give up and not bother with waivers, but there's still time to get that win!
