Fantasy Football Shakedown Part 1 - Running Backs
Heading into draft season is always exciting and nerve wracking to say the least. With the 2016 season nearly upon us, everyone is gearing up and thinking of this years best strategy for top picks. Does your league typically go with RB's, WR's, or QB's first?
We all know that even the most thought out plans don't always go as expected once the clock starts ticking. Your list might start out looking like an unstoppable machine, only to be changed in the blink of an eye.
The 2015 season was filled with letdowns in the RB category. Whether it was injury or poor performance, we all felt the cold chill from Eddie Lacey, Jamaal Charles, and C.J. Anderson, among others. Are RB's becoming less popular due to their unpredictable nature? These days there might be a guy sitting third who has a break out year, and all of a sudden the number one back is done. Can you rely on name alone?
Breakout stars from last year are enticing to look at. David Johnson on the Cardinals had a great end to the regular season, carrying the load while Chris Johnson was injured. This year these 2 will be splitting carries, probably favoring Chris. That's easy to say now but who knows what type of magic David could have this year. If he finds all the right holes he easily could be a top rusher.
Adrian Peterson once again showed his worth last year, leading the league with 327 carries and an impressive 11 touchdowns. His production has been pretty consistent over the years, and he is still a top pick on my list. The speed and power he has doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
Looking at the position of running back is more tricky these days, but keeping an eye on the old and new stars is a good idea. Always keep in mind that a late round RB pick can turn into gold!
