Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups: Kyle Kuzma, Tre Jones Lead Latest Wave
Kuzma, Jones, Wendell Carter Jr., Brice Sensabaugh and Tim Hardaway Jr. headline the latest batch of fantasy basketball waiver wire targets.
It's time for our fourth round of fantasy basketball waiver wire options of the week!
Here are our stories from Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, plus Thursday's streaming article.
Waiver wire options can be found all season on FantasySP!
Kyle Kuzma: Coming Off Huge Showing
Kuzma has been added in over 4% of leagues today, bringing his overall mark to about 43%.
He tallied 33 points, three rebounds and assists, two steals and one block over 38 minutes played in his last appearance.
Kuzma has scored in double figures in seven straight games, but has also not appeared in two games in that stretch, which holds his fantasy stock down a bit. He's averaging 18.6 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.1 blocks over 27.1 minutes over those seven games.
While Kuzma might not be the most consistent fantasy asset, he has been scoring enough of late to be a pretty solid fantasy player. Coming off a monster showing, he's a streaming option in standard leagues, but usually, he's just a good deep-league asset in my eyes.
On Thursday, Milwaukee could be without Bobby Portis and Jericho Sims, which could really make Kuzma a good fantasy option. Watch the status of those two (plus Kevin Porter Jr.) and add/stream Kuzma if a couple/or all three of them miss the game.
Tre Jones: Turning Things Up Recently
Jones is rostered in about 66% of leagues, which is up over 3% from yesterday.
He is coming off a 22-point showing, and scored 21 points three games ago. Jones has scored in double figures in six straight, averaging 17 points per contest over that stretch.
Jones is also averaging 3.2 rebounds, 4.5 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.2 blocks over 29.2 minutes a game in that six-game stretch. There's enough in those numbers for deep-league fantasy ownership, and with a couple 20+ point outings, Jones can be a streaming option in standard leagues too.
Chicago's injury list is long, and the more players that are out on Thursday, the more Jones could deliver. Look into adding/streaming Jones, and utilizing him for the foreseeable future if several teammates remain out.
Wendell Carter Jr.: Double-Double Threat
Carter is rostered in approximately 76% of leagues overall - he's up over 4% so far today.
Carter has scored in double figures in three of the past four games, and tallied nine points in the other contest. He has 29 rebounds, 10 assists, four steals and blocks and 45 points in that four-game stretch.
On points and rebounds alone, Carter can be a solid fantasy asset. Anything else he adds is just gravy.
I like him in deeper leagues, and as his own percentage suggests, he's a standard league option as well. Until Franz Wagner returns, Carter can deliver a bit more for fantasy owners, so keep utilizing him. Anthony Black is out for a while too, which adds upside to Carter.
Utilize Carter while he's in this hot streak.
Brice Sensabaugh: Excelling as Scorer Lately
Sensabaugh is up nearly 10% already today, and sits at 44% overall.
He's scored in double figures in four straight games, tallying 50 points combined over the past two. Over his past four games, he's combined for 81 points, 14 assists, 13 rebounds, four steals and two blocks and that's over 25.5 minutes a night.
Sensabaugh has stretches like this where he takes off as a fantasy asset. He hasn't been able to sustain it all season, but for periods of time, he's a better fantasy asset.
Right now, he's excelling, so now is a time to add and utilize Sensabaugh. I like him in deeper leagues, and he's a standard league streaming option for the time being.
The most important thing for Sensabaugh of late is that he's started and played 28 or 29 minutes. That gives him a better chance to deliver good fantasy marks. With several Jazz players out, there's a chance Sensabaugh keeps delivering, so take advantage of things with him while you can.
Tim Hardaway Jr.: Pretty Steady Production of Late
He's owned in about 43% of leagues now after a 10 or so percent increase.
Hardaway has scored in double figures three times over the past four contests. He scored 14 points in two of those games, and 28 in the other. Hardaway only scored six points in the game he failed to reach double figures in though, which is why his own percentage isn't even higher today.
Hardaway has combined for eight rebounds and four assists over the past four games, so almost all his fantasy value is on his scoring ability. Peyton Watson is still out with his injury, giving Hardaway a better chance to play and contribute more.
I really only like Hardaway in deeper leagues because of some of the things we've discussed already. He could deliver a high-scoring game to post a good fantasy mark, but with not-so-great probability, I'd try my streaming luck with someone else.
