Rising Young Player
Los Angeles Clippers' Jordan Miller is the top add of the day. He's been added in 19.74% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 27.74%.
Miller is in his third NBA season, but has only played 65 games over that time. He's appeared in 20 games so far this season, coming off the bench every time.
He is averaging 7.6 points, 2.9 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.2 blocks over 17.4 minutes a night. Miller is shooting 53% overall and he's 43.9% from 3-point land.
Miller has played a lot more of late, averaging 32.4 minutes per game over the past five. He's averaging 14.8 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1.4 steals per game in that stretch.
Los Angeles is dealing with a couple injuries right now, including Kawhi Leonard. That's affording Miller some more playing time, and he's taking advantage of things.
There's enough in his averages of late to consider picking him up. That's why he's such a big waiver wire add today.
I like the idea of adding him in deeper leagues, and holding him until his playing time and production falls off. Miller can be a sneaky-good fantasy asset in the meantime though.
I don't see Miller ever being a standard league hold, but he could have streaming value in those leagues. The only chance he would be a big standard league asset is if several notable Clippers miss extended time with injuries.
3-Point Specialist
Boston's Sam Hauser is up 9.12% and sits at 23.23% overall now.
Hauser has appeared in 40 games, starting 12 of them. He's averaging 22.9 minutes a night, along with 8.6 points, 3.6 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 0.6 steals and 0.3 blocks. He's shooting 39.7% overall and 39% from deep.
Hauser has started seven games in a row, averaging 13.9 points, 4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.9 steals and 0.4 blocks over 28 minutes in that stretch. He's shooting 45.8% overall and 42.2% from 3-point land.
He's coming off a 30-point showing, and has scored at least 17 points in three of the past four games. That's why Hauser is such a big-time add today.
Almost all his fantasy value comes from his scoring, and he's doing enough of that lately to consider adding for that stat alone. Hauser is adding in enough other stats to be an even better pickup.
I'm at least on board with adding or streaming him in deeper leagues. At least consider him until his minutes or production falls off.
He'd have to deliver big a couple more games to become a standard league streaming option, but that's not out of the question either, so keep an eye on him in those leagues too.
Double-Double Threat
Chicago's Jalen Smith is rostered in 55.91% of leagues after an 8.33% increase today.
Smith has played 35 games so far this season, starting five of them. He's averaging 19 minutes a night, along with 9.4 points, 6.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 0.9 blocks and 0.4 steals. Smith is shooting 46.1% overall and he's 34.3% from deep.
Smith has scored in double figures in eight of his past 11 contests. He's averaged 11.2 points, 9.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and blocks and 0.6 steals over 24.8 minutes in that stretch.
He has a double-double in three straight games, and has five double-doubles in that 11-game stretch. That upside alone is enough to give him good fantasy value in a lot of leagues.
At this point, Smith needs to be scooped up in deeper leagues, in my eyes. He's producing enough on a nightly basis to add and utilize every single time he's playing. Keep doing that until his production falls off.
I also like the idea of streaming Smith in some standard leagues. If you need a big man, it's a no-brainer move, and you'd probably be best holding him until his production fades.
For those just looking for a streamer here and there, definitely consider Smith, because he's producing a good amount of late.
