Bucks Sign Myles Turner, Waive Damian Lillard Among Flurry of Moves

In probably the most shocking move yet, the Bucks gave themselves a better chance to contend this season by signing Turner to a four-year deal. In order to do that though, they had to waive Lillard and stretch his contract out.

Lillard wasn't going to play for most of the upcoming season because of his Achilles injury, so adding Turner gives the Bucks a chance to still contend, and not making Giannis Antetokounmpo have to do everything.

Turner will replace Brook Lopez in the starting lineup after he signed with the Clippers - more on that later. The Bucks' starting lineup will be rounded out by Giannis and the newly re-signed Gary Trent Jr. and Kevin Porter Jr. Kyle Kuzma would likely start at small forward if the season started today, but the Bucks have been trying to trade Kuzma, so we'll see how much longer he's on the roster.

Adding Turner means the Bucks should be a better team this regular season, and gives them a better chance in the postseason in case Dame's recovery is slowed, or he simply isn't himself right away. Milwaukee wants to capitalize while they have Giannis around, and this move does exactly that.

Milwaukee also re-signed Taurean Prince, Jericho Sims and Bobby Portis, so so far, it looks like the organization wants to mostly run things back. They'll at least have a new point guard and center now.

Before I could even finish writing this story, the Bucks signed Gary Harris, who will help fortify the wing spot. They also traded Pat Connaughton and some picks to the Hornets for Vasilije Micic.

The Bucks aren't messing around and clearly think they can still win the Eastern Conference. If Milwaukee stays healthy next season, they will be a very tough out in the postseason.

As a Bucks' fan, the big thing holding the team back might be coaching. We'll see if the offseason moves can help Doc Rivers take this team over the top and get the Bucks back to the Finals.

The Bucks are probably not done yet this offseason, so we'll see what else the team does. They will probably make another move a few minutes after I publish this story with how things have transpired so far today.

Clippers Add Lopez, Retain Two Veterans

Along with adding Lopez on a two-year deal, Los Angeles re-signed James Harden and Nicolas Batum

The signing of Lopez is interesting, as the Clippers already have Ivica Zubac around. Throw in Kris Dunn, Norman Powell and Kawhi Leonard to the starting lineup, then some of the bench talent the Clippers have, and LA looks like a real contender in the Western Conference.

I think the Clippers could make a couple more moves before next season kicks off too, so we'll see if they can continue adding to their contending team.

Hawks' Roster Enduring Overhaul

Clint Capela and Caris LeVert have left in free agency, while Georges Niang and Terance Mann were sent out in a trade last week.

Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Luke Kennard were added in free agency, while Kristaps Porzingis was part of that trade.

There haven't been any crazy moves from the Hawks, but the moves they have made have improved the roster. Trae Young, Dyson Daniels, Jalen Johnson, Porzingis and Onyeka Okongwu is a sneaky good starting lineup, and having Kennard, Alexander-Walker, Zaccharie Risacher and more as depth makes the Hawks a sleeper in the Eastern Conference next season.

I don't think the Hawks are done yet either, so we'll see what else they can whip together.

Rockets Another Rebuilt Roster

The Rockets have been extremely busy this offseason.

It got started by trading for Kevin Durant. Dillon Brooks and Jalen Green were sent out in that deal.

Houston has added Capela and Dorian Finney-Smith in free agency, while re-signing Steven Adams, Aaron Holiday, Jeff Green, Jabari Smith Jr., Jae'Sean Tate and Fred VanVleet.

The Rockets have definitely gotten better this offseason, and they look like a big-time contender in the West now. I wonder if they have any more moves up their sleeves.

Nets Getting Younger

After making five first-round selections in the 2025 NBA Draft, the Nets are mostly getting younger this offseason.

They made a splash by trading for Michael Porter Jr., but lost Cam Johnson in that deal. D'Angelo Russell and Trendon Watford both departed in free agency.

There's been no outside additions outside Mann and Porter. Day'Ron Sharpe and Ziaire Williams have both been re-signed.

After the moves, it looks like rookie Egor Demin is the starting point guard for the Nets. Cam Thomas, Williams, Porter and Nicolas Claxton are the other projected starters at this point.

With not a ton of depth behind those guys, rookies Nolan Traore, Drake Powell, Ben Saraf and Danny Wolf could all be parts of the team's rotation this season. Brooklyn appears to be building for the future, and are probably not done making moves this offseason.

Mavericks Add Russell to Mix

The Mavs added some insurance with Kyrie Irving out for a good chunk of next season. Dallas signed Russell to a two-year deal.

Russell will start at point guard while Irving is out, and that rounds out a good Dallas lineup. Klay Thompson, Cooper Flagg, Anthony Davis and Dereck Lively II are the other projected starters there.

That's a formidable starting lineup, but the bench depth is lacking a bit right now. It will get better when Irving is back and a starter moves to the bench, but the Mavericks are likely going to make a few more moves here soon.

Dallas is in the playoff contending status, even without Irving, and this team could make some serious noise next season if they avoid any major injuries.

Grizzlies' Roster Being Shook Up

The Grizzlies traded Desmond Bane already this offseason, then lost Kennard in free agency.

Santi Aldama and Cam Spencer re-signed with the team, and Jaren Jackson Jr. signed a long-term extension. The team added Cole Anthony and Kentavious Caldwell-Pope in the Bane trade, and got Ty Jerome in free agency.

The Grizzlies have some solid talent on their roster, and if they stay relatively healthy next season, they could make a push in the Western Conference. I bet the Grizzlies make a few more moves yet this offseason too.

Guerschon Yabusele Joins Knicks

The lone offseason move for New York, from a player perspective, has been signing Yabusele in free agency. Yabusele gives the Knicks some help in the frontcourt, and just lengthens the roster a bit.

The starting lineup of Jalen Brunson, Mikal Bridges, Josh Hart, OG Anunoby and Karl-Anthony Towns is strong, and adding some bench depth will be big for their chances of competing in the East.

Jordan Clarkson is reportedly going to sign with New York too, so that's another win for the Knicks.

The big move the team makes will be the head coach they eventually hire.
