Adalberto Mondesi offers deep league help
Adalberto Mondesi went from unheard amongst pretty much anyone to a slightly wider range including some fantasy baseball team owners. Mondesi had a breakout game last night and is worth taking a look at.
Last night Mondesi had two hits, one home run, one run scored, one stolen base, and 4 runs batted in against the Minnesota Twins. A great statline for even MIke Trout.
Now keep in mind Mondesi plays for the Royals, which as a team, are the worst offensively in baseball. They also have tied a league worst record at 26-66 and a league worst run differential of -186.
The ceiling for Mondesi is pretty low based on his team and he doesn't have many games under his belt this season to get a real feel for what he can offer. Needless to say, there are quite a few question marks.
Still, in just 18 games, Mondesi has a 230 average, 2 home runs, 10 RBI, and 11 runs scored to go along with 5 stolen bases. Not too bad considering the team he is on. However, keep in mind that nearly half of his RBI has come in just one game.
Mondesi is owned in just 7% of leagues and is eligible as a 2B/SS/MI in most fantasy leagues. Consider him a deep league play only.
