Meadows could provide short-term fantasy value

Brant Tedeschi May 18th 1:32 PM EDT.

Austin Meadows has been called up to the big leagues. He was drafted 9th in the 2013th draft and his path to the big leagues haven't exactly been smooth due to injuries.

Those of you who are looking to take a chance on Meadows need to know that his playing time may not be there in the long-term. However, he is still considered to be a top prospect with the Pirates.

Why is Franmil Reyes such a popular waiver addition?

Brant Tedeschi May 17th 6:37 PM EDT.

The casual fan probably has never heard of Franmil Reyes, but fantasy die-hards who have been paying attention to Triple-A know all about him.

Reyes got the call up simply because the Padres simply can't ignore the production he has provided in Triple-A. He had 14 home runs, and eight of those home runs came in just five games. With an injury riddled lineup and poor run production, why not take a chance and see what he's got?

Player Analysis of Jankowski and his limited fantasy value

Brant Tedeschi May 14th 6:12 PM EDT.

Travis Jankowski of the San Diego Padres is quietly been putting up nice numbers since being recalled from Triple-A El Paso in late April.

How good? Try batting .349 with 1 home run, 8 runs scored, 3 stolen bases, and just one RBI. His average is solid and has potential to help you in stolen bases and runs categories. He seems like the perfect guy for deep league help based on these numbers in just 13 games.

Sell high on Corbin

Brant Tedeschi Apr 23rd 5:52 PM EDT.

Patrick Corbin is on fire to start the 2018 season. He is now 4-0 with a 1.89 ERA, 13 K/9 and an insane 0.66 WHIP.

The closest pitcher he can be compared to is Max Scherzer of the Washington Nationals or Sean Manaea of the Oakland Athletics.

Joey Lucchesi will come back down to earth

Brant Tedeschi Apr 22nd 2:42 PM EDT.

Joey Lucchesi has been a breakout star this season for the San Diego Padres. So far this season Lucchesi has a 1.66 ERA, .97 WHIP and a 10.4 K/9. Those are some impressive numbers considering he has already pitched in four games.

However, the matchups he has played in so far have only been so-so offensive clubs. The San Francisco Giants, Colorado Rockies, and Milwaukee Brewers are around the middle of the league in terms of offense according to our offensive rankings.

Guerra, a rising waiver wire pickup

Brant Tedeschi Apr 22nd 2:33 PM EDT.

Junior Guerra has been slowly rising on the waiver wire after two solid outings so far this season. Junior is sporting a .82 ERA and .91 WHIP and fantasy owners are starting to believe.

The downside to Guerra's pitching this season is the fact he has not been able to get a full six-inning effort. Both games he pitched, he was unable to notch a quality start, but was able to pickup a win against the Tampa Bay Rays.

Tucker Leads NL in RBI

Brant Tedeschi Apr 20th 5:31 PM EDT.

Preston Tucker is currently leading the NL in RBI. That's right, a guy you probably never heard of is currently in the league in the NL in RBI thanks in part to last night's big 5 RBI game against the New York Mets.

His season statline is currently sitting at .288 AVG, 3 HR, 18 RBI, and 8 RUNS. He is currently ranked 5th out of all major league left fielders and is projected by experts to end the season around 89th.

Hernandez today's best waiver pickup

Brant Tedeschi Apr 19th 3:01 PM EDT.

Little known Teoscar Hernandez had a very big game yesterday against the Royals by coming a double shy of a cycle while adding four RBI and two runs scored.

"I got a little bit more experience last year, I got more confidence in Spring Training, and I just tried to stay focused and do the best that I can," Hernandez said. "When I got the call, I put in my mind that I got another chance to do what I know and to do my best. Keep getting better and try to get that chance to help the team."

Brant Tedeschi Apr 18th 12:53 PM EDT.

Did you really think Shohei Ohtani could keep up his pace of perfection in the majors? Ohtani came back down to earth on Tuesday against the Boston Redsox.

Ohtani gave up 4 hits (one home run), 2 walks, 3 earned runs, and just one strikeout in 2 innings. His pitch count was only 66, and left his start early after dealing with blisters.
