Zach Britton was pitching in the ninth when fielding a comebacker to the mound by Sanchez. The ball did not hit him, but he was grimacing afterwards and may have tweaked his knee while bending down awkwardly to field the grounder.

After throwing out Sanchez at first base, the trainer was called out but Britton indicated that he was okay. He then promptly closed out the Yankees a few minutes later.

Sabathia started the 2017 campaign pitching solid against the Rays and ended the game with 5 innings, two strikeouts, and two walks while giving up no runs.
