Darius Garland, Cleveland Cavaliers
The Bulls are…winning again?! A lot?! Coby White is shooting 66% overall and 60.9% from 3 in fourth quarters in the last 11 games. In his eight-game stretch as a starter, he averaged: 25.8 PPG, 6.8 RPG, 6.8 APG, 51% FG, 50% 3P, and 82% FT. Coby White is the fastest riser in fantasy value and the hottest name for the rest of the season as his usage grows game by game.
The Cavaliers are the newest team to enter Injury Hell. Darius Garland fractured his jaw in a collision with Kristaps Porzingis and will be out for a month. To make it worse, Evan Mobely underwent knee surgery and is expected to be out for a minimum of six to eight weeks. Donovan Mitchell has been playing injured recently, and trade rumors are spiraling. There's a chance that this young trio has already played it's last games together, as Mitchell may be on his way out with his contract set to expire at the end of this season.
How to account for Cleveland's injuries:
The NBA’s In-Season Tournament has proven itself to basketball fans around the world and then some. The knockout games have provided nothing but great basketball and electric entertainment. Along with the In-Season Tournament, we've also seen plenty of changes in the fantasy basketball world. Let's take a deep dive into two of them in today's Fantasy Basketball update!
As always, fantasy basketball owners are encountering plenty of injuries, late scratches, and players out in the first few weeks. One of the most significant absences is Charlotte point guard LaMelo Ball, who suffered a serious ankle injury. How do you bounce back from losing an early pick for months to a severe ankle sprain? How much is one of the biggest fantasy players worth when he is guaranteed to miss a huge chunk of the season? And who should you target from the Hornets who stands to benefit from his absence? Let's break it all down.
Fantasy basketball owners are encountering injuries, late scratches, and players out with injury in the first few weeks. How do you bounce back? Simple answer: the waiver wire. “Streaming” is a fantasy basketball roster strategy that involves subbing in and out different players to your roster completely based on how they will perform that day for you. In a fluid NBA where players have to be safe and the next man up is a lot better than they used to be, tracking players who fill in spots for others is a huge key for injury management and the overall strategy of streaming.
We are officially into the NBA season now, and we already have seen some big changes. Some players have overperformed expectations and others have taken advantage of unfortunate injuries to expand their roles. Let's take a look at the most important fantasy basketball storylines of the early NBA season.
