Dustin Pedroia Out
The Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia is not in Saturday's lineup against the Baltimore Orioles. Pedroia took a hit to his leg during the eighth inning as Manny Machado slide into second base and hit him. Pedroia limped off the field and was done for the night.
The Red Sox were in an uproar as they thought the slide was late and the umpires did not enforce the rule that is in place to protect middle infielders. Pedroia seemed to shrug off any talk of a dirty play when he spoke after the game.
As of now there is no mention of Pedroia being out long term or suffering a bad injury. The Red Sox will let him rest until they make their way back up to Boston.
