6 Fantasy Football Players You Can Drop Before Week 5, Including Herbert
These six players have disappointed at some point across the first four weeks and could be candidates to drop ahead of Week 5.
We've discussed a number of fantasy football waiver wire options going into Week 5, but now are going to discuss some potential drop options.
I have six players to discuss, so let's dive right into things!
The Fantasy Sports Assistant now can answer questions you have after doing team breakdowns or waiver wire analysis!
Justin Herbert - Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert is rostered in 78% of fantasy leagues at the moment, but is trending down going into Week 5.
He struggled again in Week 4, throwing for just 189 yards and a score, while being picked off twice. Herbert added 40 rushing yards on six attempts to offset the picks, but it was another uninspiring performance overall.
He's completed just 59.7% of his passes across four games, while tallying four touchdowns and six picks. Herbert has 88 rushing yards and no scores over 18 attempts for the 0-4 Chargers.
Herbert has been a big fantasy disappointment so far, and it's more than justified to be considering dropping him this week. There's better options out there, and I'd only want to be holding Herbert in deeper redraft leagues or dynasty setups. Hopefully better days are ahead, but he's one to skip right now.

Dontayvion Wicks - Philadelphia Eagles
Wicks sits at 83% owned right now, but is trending down after Week 4.
He had 73 and 74 yards across the first two games, but Wicks has regressed in each of the past two contests. He's gotten five targets in each contest, but combined for five grabs and just 50 yards - Wicks had 18 yards on three grabs in Week 4.
That's just not good enough, and he's another good drop candidate for Week 5. He is worth holding in some deeper leagues, but until we see better results, Wicks is worth skipping in standard leagues.
Courtland Sutton - Denver Broncos
Sutton was at about 90% rostered for Week 4, but is a drop candidate heading into Week 5.
Sutton put forth his worst showing of the season this past week, tallying one catch for four yards across six targets. He hasn't topped 46 yards in a single game, and he's yet to catch a touchdown.
The only thing that makes him even somewhat appealing is his 22 targets through four games. He could get going later in the season, so he's one to keep tabs on.
For now though, Sutton is another guy who could be dropped in standard redraft leagues. I'd keep holding him, but try to bench him in deeper leagues.
Michael Pittman - Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittman was owned in about 78% of leagues for this past week, but is another wideout trending in the wrong direction.
He put together another poor showing in Week 4, his second straight bad outing. Pittman had 15 yards across two catches and four targets, after tallying 16 yards on two grabs and five targets in Week 3.
Throw in a missed game in Week 2 and he hasn't delivered since Week 1, and he only had three grabs for 58 yards in that one. The start to his Steelers' tenure has been uninspiring, to say the least.
He can be dropped in standard redraft leagues as well, but he's another to keep tabs on in case he gets rolling later in the season. Look elsewhere for help right now though.
Kenyon Sadiq - New York Jets
Sadiq was also at 78% rostered for Week 4. He's one of two tight ends I want to discuss today.
After being a big pickup after Week 3, Sadiq was shut out in Week 4. He was targeted four times against Chicago, but failed to bring in any catches.
Aside from a monster showing in Week 3, Sadiq has been below average so far this season. That's to be expected for a rookie tight end on a lackluster offense, but that means his fantasy outlook is weak too.
He's still worth considering in the right matchups, but he's not a locked-in starter outside deeper fantasy setups. Play matchups with Sadiq, and don't expect stellar results every single week.
Kyle Pitts Sr. - Atlanta Falcons
Pitts was owned in just under 80% of leagues, but is another player who is trending down.
Pitts actually put together his best performance of the season in Week 4. He had just 47 yards on three receptions and targets, so that just shows how poor he's performed so far.
Pitts has five catches for 67 yards and no touchdowns through four games. Toss in just nine overall targets and you see a very poor fantasy asset.
He is worth considering in the right matchups, but his season-long numbers say to only try him in deeper leagues right now. Pitts isn't one to drop in all standard redraft leagues, especially with bye weeks starting this week.
