Friday's Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Options: Jaylen Wells, Ayo Dosunmu, John Collins and More
Looking at several fantasy basketball waiver wire options in the sixth week of the NBA season.
Let's put together one final fantasy basketball waiver wire story in the sixth week of the NBA regular season.
Here are the stories from Monday and Wednesday.
Check out fantasy basketball waiver wire options on FantasySP all season long!
Should You Add Jaylen Wells?
Wells has been added in 3.51% of fantasy basketball leagues, bringing his overall mark to 30.3%.
Wells has been on fire the past two games, so it's easy to see why he's being added today. He has combined for 47 points, eight rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block over two starts and 66 minutes of action.
For the season, he is averaging 11.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.1 blocks over 26.1 minutes. He is shooting 41.4% overall and is 33.3% from 3-point land. Wells has started all 19 games he's appeared in.
Memphis is down several players, including Ja Morant, Scotty Pippen Jr., Ty Jerome and Brandon Clarke, so there's more production out there for guys like Wells right now. He's taken advantage of things the past two games, but isn't usually that good of a fantasy asset.
I'd say Wells is a better deep-league streaming option right now, and he can be held until his production or role starts to drop. He could even be worth standard league streams right now, but that's just in a pinch.
I see him as a better deep-league asset all season, and probably not being worth owning in all deeper leagues when the team is closer to full health. Take advantage of things while Wells' fantasy value is higher.
Should You Add Ayo Dosunmu?
Dosunmu is up 2.19% and now sits at 56.36% overall.
He has started three straight games for Chicago, playing between 29-32 minutes in those contests. Dosunmu has scored 51 points in two games combined, but had just eight points in the other.
Dosunmu has eight rebounds, six assists and two blocks outside the points in those three games, so even though he's starting and playing enough minutes to be a bigger fantasy asset, he's kind of lacking.
The points are great, and make him worth owning in most deeper leagues at least, but until he starts adding in more consistently, I don't like the idea of adding him in too many standard leagues. He's just a streamer in those leagues in my eyes.
Overall in 15 games (three starts), Dosunmu is averaging 16.4 points, 2.9 assists, 2.6 rebounds, 0.5 steals and 0.3 blocks over 26.5 minutes a night. He's shooting 56.3% overall and is 47.5% from deep.
With added minutes and starts, Dosunmu should be a better fantasy asset, but he just doesn't do enough outside his scoring, and he's not likely to provide 20+ points every night.
Chicago is without several players right now, which is helping Dosunmu take on more, and start. He needs to be watched closely, as a trip back to the bench or less minutes means he should be dropped in all standard leagues, and some deeper leagues.
I see Dosunmu as a better deep-league asset right now. Keep him on a watch list for possible standard league adds, but right now, I only like him in deeper setups (outside occasional streams).
Should You Add Jarace Walker?
Walker is owned in 17.58% of leagues after a 1.51% increase today.
He started the team's last game and played 26 minutes, which gives him a decent fantasy outlook. Walker provided 13 points, nine rebounds, two assists and steals and a block.
He had 21 points, six boards, two assists and a steal in 27 minutes off the bench in the game before that, so he might be settling in a bit.
Overall in 18 games (10 starts), Walker is averaging 10.5 points, 5.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, 0.7 steals and 0.4 blocks over 27.9 minutes a night. He's shooting just 34.1% overall and is 33% from deep.
He's playing enough on average to provide some fantasy value, but he's not really doing a ton while on the court. He's changed that of late, which is why he is on the rise.
I like him being added in deeper leagues right now. I wouldn't add Walker in all deeper leagues, but he's worth streaming in a lot of those leagues until his numbers or role drop. I don't see him getting into standard leagues either, but he's worth tracking just in case.
Should You Add Jose Alvarado?
Alvarado is rostered in 16.97% of leagues after a 2.09% bump up today.
He has played more the past two nights, but continues to come off the bench. In 58 combined minutes in those games, he posted 40 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and four steals.
Alvarado has come off the bench for all 18 games he's appeared in this season. He's averaging 8.6 points, 3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 1 steal over 20.7 minutes, while shooting 43.8% overall and 37.8% from deep.
He isn't averaging enough minutes overall to have much fantasy value, but his role could be on the rise. New Orleans needs some players to step up with the likes of Herbert Jones, Dejounte Murray and Jordan Poole out, so Alvarado could be a sneaky good option for a little while.
He can stuff the stat sheet if he gets enough playing time, but him coming off the bench still makes him a risky player to add. I'd call him a deep-league streaming option for the time being.
He doesn't need to be streamed in all deeper leagues either, but he can be streamed by some if his numbers from his past two games keeps up. Keep an eye on him and hold him in deeper leagues if his role sticks, or he starts getting some starts. He's been a fantasy asset in the past and could become a decent one again here in short order.
Should You Add Jaxson Hayes?
Hayes is rostered in 8% of leagues after being under 4% owned earlier this week.
Hayes made his second start of the season in the Lakers' last game, providing eight points, four rebounds, three assists and one steal and block over nearly 30 minutes.
He usually is in the teens for minutes, and coming off the bench, so his fantasy value is pretty low. Hayes is averaging 5.5 points, 4.1 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 0.4 blocks and steals over 17.7 minutes for the season, which spans 14 games so far.
Deandre Ayton is the Lakers' starting big man most nights, but is probable with a knee injury. If Ayton is out again, Hayes is worth streaming in some deeper leagues for Friday's game.
He even could be worth streaming if Ayton plays, as his minutes could be limited. Hayes might need a long-term injury to Ayton before being a really good fantasy asset in deeper leagues though.
Should You Add John Collins?
Collins has been added in 1.79% of leagues, bringing his new overall mark to 67.27%.
He continues to start for the Clippers, and he's now scored in double figures in four of the past six games. Collins is averaging 11.7 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.5 blocks, 0.3 steals and 0.2 assists over 28.7 minutes in those six games.
Collins is playing enough for fantasy relevance, but he's not providing enough most nights to be owned in many standard leagues. I'd be fine streaming him in some standard leagues, but he's otherwise just a solid deep-league option.
Things could get worse for him when the Clippers get a bit healthier too, so I'm really not a big fan of adding Collins in any standard leagues today.
Add him in deeper leagues if he's available, but otherwise just treat him as a standard league streamer in a pinch.
