Red Sox left-hander David Price resumed a throwing program after a recent bout of soreness in his injured left elbow slowed his rehabilitation progress. Price made 30 long-toss throws Friday in Baltimore, Red Sox manager John Farrell said.
Spin: "I don't think [the soreness is] a complete surprise when you begin to ramp up the intensity and the volume, you've got to monitor and adjust based, in this case, on what David is feeling and his feedback," Farrell said. "So we're back on track." Based on Friday's work, Price is slated for a 45-50 pitch bullpen session on Monday in Boston. There is no clear plan in place from there involving facing live batters, but one will be developed if the progress continues for last season's 17-game winner. "Once we get through [Monday's] work session and kind of begin to map out a little more of a structure on a calendar, I think we're at that point [of facing batters]," Farrell said. "Anytime you get to the number of pitches thrown that will be tomorrow, you can start to foresee a progression to hitters and ultimately to games, but we don't have that in place right now."
