If you’ve been following along and reading these articles this season, I just wanted to thank you and let you know I really appreciate it. If you are brand new to them, welcome aboard. This Thursday night features a 10-game slate, with the lone back-to-back team being the Flames of all teams as they leave the den of the desert pups for the Vegas strip to take on the Golden Knights.

It is so hard to believe we are within two weeks of the NHL trade deadline and already some of the biggest names on the free agent market have been moved. This is definitely the time of year when teams are flipping over their hand at the table, showing us where they really stand for the current season and to some extent, the future as well. One very cool unprecedented thing I’m seeing on Twitter I like a lot right now is how teams are being more honest about players being scratched for possible trade reasons. In the past, they’d avoid coming out and saying it, but for now, we can thank the Coyotes for starting this trend with their tweets about Chychrun, a big trade deadline target on the blue line. I argue I like this, because, the NHL has stated they want to make it an excellent betting product, and this is certainly one way to help with that.

This Thursday night slate features an eight-game slate with many of the same teams from Tuesday night’s slate and with only the Redwings on a pure back-to-back situation. We are getting to the stage of the season where every point in the standings comes at a premium for some teams fighting for playoff position and life. At the same time, as we get closer and closer to the trade deadline, it is definitely wise to stay on top of these latest developments from slate to slate and for any futures betting considerations. I’m a fan of planning ahead when it comes to futures betting and game lines as well. When a team is trending hard a certain way over a recent sample, and the books are adjusting to it, it becomes even more important to be able to jump on early value or be able to adapt with an alternate, yet equally effective betting angle. All that being said, let’s jump right into what should be a good slate once again.

We are definitely in the thick of the final stretch of the season, with the trade deadline also under three weeks away. It is also pretty crazy to think in about two months we will have the playoffs starting as well, as I’d argue it is the best playoffs there are in sports and certainly a different season from a betting perspective too. But for tonight, we have a nine-game slate featuring some of the heavyweights such as Boston and Carolina, with Florida and Ottawa on the second half of road back-to-backs. Per usual, I will find my favorite game line and player prop wagers for the slate. My hope isn’t necessarily that you just blindly trust me and tail me, although it is appreciated. It is that you learn something from these articles you can apply to building your own betting cards. Let’s dive in.

After the all-star break and a six-game slate, followed by a two-game slate last night, we have a seven-game slate on this Thursday’s docket from which to extract some winners. I say this because admittedly the last couple of slates have not been the greatest, but that is why I’m a strong advocate of a flat betting approach and having bankroll requirements for wagers. Still, it has been a really good, winning season and we have the final stretch of the regular season here with the trade deadline looming on the horizon. But for tonight, the Canucks and Wild are on back-to-backs, with the Canucks simply going from Madison Square Garden to Long Island and the Wild traveling from Dallas to Minnesota. You could certainly make a bit of an argument that these first back-to-backs are not as bad for the teams on them as they would be after a long stretch of games without a break, but it doesn’t change my process much at all so let’s dig in.

Hope everyone enjoyed a little break from the ice but now it is time for the final stretch of the regular season, indeed an exciting time of year if you love hockey. For this Tuesday we have a six-game slate including the Lightning and Islanders traveling a bit to get home and play the second half of a back-to-back and the Ducks will be on a real road back-to-back as they travel from Dallas to Chicago. As usual, I’m going to identify my favorite betting angles on the slate as far as game lines and player props are concerned.

Welcome to the third to last slate before the all-star break weekend commences, as we have a small three-game slate to work with this evening. Last night saw a nice comeback by the Jets to score four unanswered with the empty-netter to hand the Blues a 4-2 defeat. I cannot stress enough that going into the last game before a long break for these teams there is a propensity for more weirdness to happen, so please wager carefully and accordingly. Tonight, we will see the Kings at Canes, the Capitals at Bluejackets, and the Senators at the Canadiens as well.

We have a nine-game slate on tap tonight sort of split between some good heavyweight matchups such as Tampa and Boston and some more lopsided ones featuring two teams who are currently favored beyond minus 400 on the moneyline in Colorado and Calgary as they face the Ducks and Blackhawks respectively. There are no teams on any back-to-backs tonight also, as we inch closer to the all-star break and the March third trade deadline. As always, I will lead things off with my favorite game lines to bet and finish with my favorite player props. The game lines will tell you the worst odds I would play to.

What a season it has been so far, as we find ourselves close to the NHL all-star break which means no games at all from the second to the fifth of February. As always, I will be covering my favorite few game lines and player props of tonight’s slate. We have 11 games featuring Buffalo and Florida on what I would call real road back-to-backs.

We are officially past the midway point of the long NHL season, with the all-star break on the horizon. As the books start to price their lines more accurately throughout the second half of the season, we may need to be willing to adapt to maintain a profitable strategy. Sometimes this may mean taking a team total over instead of a money line or an in-regulation or puck line instead. In the player prop department, we may see some sharper opening lines set by the books than we have up until now for the season. I might be a little more likely to go down to that area I tend to stop taking money lines, around minus 145 to minus 150. Tonight, we have a lovely 13-game slate to pick apart, so let’s get started.
