Another nice slate tonight, another opportunity to extract value and profits! I guess if I really wanted to complain, I’d prefer six to eight-game slates every night seven days a week, but this whole four and ten-game slates back and forth works well too. Only the Leafs and the Predators are on back ends of back-to-back sets, and we will want to monitor Auston Matthews’ status more than likely if you are looking at anything in that matchup with Detroit. Let’s dive right in.

We are nearing the midway point of this wonderful time of year known as hockey season. I’m noticing that compared to recent previous seasons, we have a bigger gap between the elite five or so roughly teams in the league when compared to the bottom three to five teams in the league which have chances to be historically bad. We have only one game that comes close to fitting this mold when Tampa Bay hosts Columbus. Let’s see what betting game-line spots I can find that would make for actionable wagers.

After a quiet three-game slate last night, we get a nice 10-game slate tonight. The only team on a back-to-back is the New Jersey Devils, who will head home to take on the Blues. Every pick I cover here in bold is a wager on my personal card as well. We are still not quite halfway into the season, so I do think if you have an extra minute this is a great time of year to look at the futures markets. But for now, let's focus on this slate tonight.

I hope this finds you well to start off 2023. If you are new to my NHL articles, I am strictly looking at my favorite game betting lines, which I’ve already placed as I write this late Monday night. I will list the current odds at the best numbers and lines I am finding from right now to the worst odds I would play on them later. Note that I am on the more strict or particularly picky side when it comes to what kind of odds I take, you’ll literally never see a “-200” moneyline favorite as a straight bet on my card. The NHL is erratic, random, and loaded with variance, so I don’t see the point in backing huge favorites, especially if your goal in the long term is to profit. No order of preference here and I’ve placed one-unit wagers on all the following picks.

After a few days of no hockey, we are suddenly three days back into it here as we have a nice 11-game slate to dig into. This time around, I am strictly looking at my five favorite game betting lines for tomorrow as I write this late Wednesday night. I will list the current odds at the best numbers and lines I am finding from right now to the worst odds I would play on them later. Note that I am on the more strict or particularly picky side when it comes to what kind of odds I take, you’ll literally never see a “-180” moneyline favorite as a straight bet on my card. The NHL is fickle, random, and loaded with variance, so I don’t see the point in backing huge favorites, especially if your goal in the long term is to make money.

Although there are eight games including the daytime Leafs and Flyers game, we will be sifting through my favorite DFS values on the DraftKings seven-game main slate which begins at 7 PM EST. As a reminder, I’m always talking in terms of DraftKings salary while trying to find the best values of the slate at each position which can be used for either or both in terms of cash games and guaranteed prize pools. The players I talk about here do not necessarily reflect players that appear in my lineup, although some of them more than likely will. Let's get after it here as this is the second to last slate before the three-day NHL holiday break.

Hope you’ve been enjoying the season so far. Tonight, we get a nice eight-game slate as we get closer to the NHL holiday break. Expect more like this in the schedule this week, which personally I really like in handicapping and in DFS as well.

After a massive 12-game slate on Tuesday, we are ready to do it again tonight as we have yet another.

This article marks the first in a series of articles I will be writing throughout the season designed to provide you with some value beyond simply a particular slate and apply it to your own process. Although I will cover some team metrics I like to sift through to find betting value, they pale in comparison to what numbers and odds the books are giving you on a wager, as that can make all the difference in deciding if you have a wager to place.
