Veteran Receiver Searches for a Role in His Eleventh Season
Sterling Shepard enters his eleventh NFL season as an experienced free-agent wideout looking to latch onto a roster. Last year, he showed he still has some gas in the tank, pulling in 42 receptions for 383 yards and a touchdown. However, without a secure team landing spot as of late June, his immediate fantasy utility is virtually nonexistent.
Our data shows that fantasy managers are largely taking a wait-and-see approach. His ownership hovers around seven percent, with a negligible start percentage of two percent in early leagues. Without a guaranteed depth-chart role or clear path to targets, he remains a deep-league stash at best, heavily reliant on landing in a favorable passing offense.
We do not project Shepard as a viable draft target in standard formats. Unless injuries strike a team and he signs into a direct-volume role, his ceiling is exceptionally low. He is best left on the waiver wire to start the year, though managers in deep leagues can keep him on their watchlists.
