Contingency Handcuff Value Behind Jonathan Taylor

Giddens enters his second campaign operating as the primary backup behind lead back Jonathan Taylor in the Indianapolis backfield. After logging 26 carries in five games as a rookie, Giddens is positioned ahead of Seth McGowan on the depth chart, showing short-yardage scoring ability during the preseason while continuing to work on passing-down consistency.

Our projections reflect a limited regular role, forecasting 34 carries for 141 rushing yards, nine receptions, and 35.8 fantasy points. Fantasy managers have largely kept him on waivers given his two percent roster rate, as his weekly value remains entirely dormant while the backfield is healthy.

The draft market has cooled substantially, with his ADP tumbling from the mid-400s into the 900s over the past month. While his plummeting cost signals nonexistent standalone appeal, Giddens represents a virtually free handcuff target in deeper formats for managers prioritizing insurance for Taylor.
