From Jahmyr Gibbs and James Cook to potential flex plays, here's how the top-30 running backs stack up for Week 8.

1. Jahmyr Gibbs

Gibbs lands the No. 1 RB ranking despite going into the toughest fantasy RB matchup possible against the Vikings.
Gibbs can deliver against anyone and you should be confident that he'll get the job done again in Week 8.
I debated Walker for the No. 1 spot, but have no problem taking him second.
He's got an above-average matchup coming against the Broncos, so he should be a high-end back, like he has been all season. He went for 173 rushing yards and a score across 23 carries, plus caught three passes for 18 yards and another score in the team's first matchup back in Week 1.
Tampa Bay is a bottom-three fantasy matchup for backs, but again, I'm trusting the top-end RB to get the job done.
Robinson can put up big fantasy totals on volume touches alone, and I think that happens again in Week 8.
Henry is No. 4 in my rankings, but has a chance to be the top back this week thanks to a stellar matchup.
He's taking on the Bills, who have allowed the third-most fantasy points to RBs so far. Henry should shine as a result.
Williams gets a slightly above-average matchup against Arizona.
It's a game the Cowboys could control and win, so I see Williams shining as a fantasy asset.
6. James Cook
Cook has a tougher test against the Ravens, but I still believe in him getting the job done.
He usually gets to big fantasy scores on a bunch of touches, and I'm guessing the same thing happens in Week 8.
Williams has a favorable matchup coming against the Chargers, so he should be a top-10 fantasy back by the end of the week.
Even with a backup taking some touches and production away, I'd still confidently start Williams in all leagues for Week 8.
8. Bucky Irving
Irving has a very favorable matchup coming against the Falcons, so he too should shine in Week 8.
Irving should power the team's backfield and deliver a big fantasy score, as he has multiple times over his past three appearances.
9. Josh Jacobs
Jacobs gets a top-10 spot just a week after returning to the field.
A very favorable matchup on Thursday against the Panthers helps his cause. I feel confident taking him here after what he showed in Week 7 though.
10. Ashton Jeanty
Jeanty has an average test coming up against the Jets.
While he's scored some fantasy points, Jeanty has underwhelmed most of the season. At some point, he's going to break out, but until then, he'll rank near this spot.
11. Bhayshul Tuten
Tuten has a slightly above-average matchup coming against the Colts in Week 8.
I see Jacksonville controlling this game, which will help Tuten deliver a big fantasy score, so start him in all leagues.
12. Jonathan Taylor
Taylor is usually a top-end fantasy RB, but a brutal test against the Jaguars knocks him down to No. 12.
I think you still need to be starting him in all leagues, but you need to temper expectations with him at the very least.
13. Chase Brown
Brown has a slightly above-average matchup coming against the Titans.
I want to rank Brown higher, but he's struggled, especially of late. We'll see if he can finally get rolling this week, otherwise he could plummet in the rankings in the weeks to come.
14. Jaylen Warren
Warren sits 14th heading into a pretty tough test against the Browns.
He had 93 rushing yards on 17 attempts, plus three receptions for 33 yards, in the first test against Cleveland. A similar showing should put him around RB15 this week.
15. Chuba Hubbard
Hubbard has a pretty favorable matchup on Thursday against the Packers.
Hubbard has been a pretty good fantasy asset this season, so he's one to trust, especially in a matchup like this.
16. Breece Hall or Braelon Allen
Whoever ends up starting for the Jets gets the No. 16 ranking.
They have a top-five fantasy RB matchup, so they are capable of finishing higher, but the uncertainty of Hall makes this a clouded situation. Allen could be moved up a few spots if Hall is inactive again.
17. D'Andre Swift
Swift has a slightly below-average test coming against the Seahawks in Week 8.
Seattle is pretty dominant otherwise, so we'll see if Chicago leans on the running game, which should be led by Swift.
18. Ollie Gordon
Gordon is the lead back for Miami, and has produced enough to rank inside the top 20 here.
His matchup against the Patriots is below average, but on volume alone, I expect Gordon to score several fantasy points.
19. Tony Pollard
Pollard erupted in his last game, but his Week 8 test against Cincinnati is not a favorable one, so he ranks 19th.
Cincy is actually a bottom-five fantasy matchup for backs, so Pollard is on the flex-level line for this week.
20. Saquon Barkley
Barkley's status needs to be watched, as he's dealing with a couple of ailments.
If he can play in Week 8, he has a tough test against Washington, which is why he ranks where he does.
Stevenson has a stellar matchup against the Dolphins, but with inconsistent showings of late, this is as high as I feel comfortable ranking him.
Stevenson is a good flex-level option, and will likely start in most leagues thanks to the matchup.
22. Quinshon Judkins
Judkins checks in 22nd for Week 8 for his below-average test against the Steelers.
He had 53 rushing yards and a score across 17 attempts, while adding 43 receiving yards on six receptions in the team's first meeting. There's enough there to try him in a bunch of leagues in Week 8.
23. Jordan Mason
Mason has a chance to lead the Vikings' backfield in Week 8, especially if Aaron Jones Sr. is out - Jones is banged up at the very least.
The matchup against the Lions is a below-average one, so that's why Mason falls more into the flex-level ranking.
24. Rachaad White
White might lead the Washington backfield in Week 8.
He has a slightly below-average test coming against the Eagles. The matchup is better than it seems, and in a winnable game, White could get enough work to surprise as a fantasy asset.
25. Jeremiyah Love
Love has missed a couple of games in a row, so you need to be watching his status.
His matchup against Dallas would be very favorable, but with injury concerns, he's still just a flex-level option.
26. Blake Corum
The matchup against the Chargers is good enough to try a second Rams' RB here in Corum.
He usually gets enough work to be a fantasy asset, and I like the game outlook for the RB2 to deliver pretty well again.
27. Zach Charbonnet
I expected Charbonnet to play in Week 7, but he wasn't active. He should suit up in Week 8 against Chicago.
The Bears are a below-average matchup, so temper expectations for the Seattle back's first game of the season.
28. Rico Dowdle
Dowdle got going a bit in Week 7, and I'm going to give him a top-30 ranking for Week 8 as a result.
His matchup against the Browns isn't the best, but I think the Steelers utilize both backs on their way to a big win, so Dowdle and Warren could be top-30 fantasy RBs.
29. Omarion Hampton
Hampton has underwhelmed in 2026, with a putrid Chargers' offense playing a big role in that. He's fallen so much that he barely makes my top 30.
His matchup against the Rams is below average, and in a negative game outlook, Hampton is just not a great option for Week 8.
30. Jonah Coleman
I think Coleman is on the rise now that he's healthy again, and despite a tougher test against the Chiefs, I am going to rank him 30th.
He's a better deep-league fantasy asset, but he could be tried in standard leagues if you are lacking at RB.
