Week 5 Thursday DraftKings DFS Lineup: Going Cheap at TE Helps Me Roster Four Studs, Including Christian McCaffrey

Morgan puts together a DFS lineup for the Thursday game between the Rams and 49ers.

I'm back with another Thursday night DFS lineup!

Tonight, we have the San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Rams squaring off, and with a multitude of injuries (mostly in San Fran), it will make for some interesting DFS choices.

Also be sure to check out the fantasy outlooks for each team - Rams and 49ers.

Captain - Jake Tonges ($6,300)

There's some absolute fantasy studs in this game tonight, but they are pricey because they are studs. In an effort to save salary for some of those studs, I decided to try Tonges as the captain, meaning he will cost 1.5 times as much as he usually would, but he'll also score 1.5 times the points.

The Niners are without Brock Purdy, Ricky Pearsall and Jauan Jennings tonight, so they need some other skill players to step up.

Tonges is coming off a good showing in week 4 and should be even more involved tonight. In an average matchup, I'm gambling that he turns in a good fantasy outing and helps my team out.

Flex - Puka Nacua ($11,600)

Here's one of the fantasy studs, and the best fantasy option in the game so far this season in Nacua.

He averages 29.6 fantasy points per game on DraftKings, which should be enough reason to get him in your DFS lineups.

Nacua is going to put up a good fantasy score despite the matchup, and in a tougher test tonight, I still see him shining, so he was a must-start for this lineup.

Flex - Christian McCaffrey ($11,400)

CMC is another fantasy stud, and is averaging 24 fantasy points per game.

He has the toughest matchup possible for a fantasy back, but he's another fantasy asset who you simply have to trust every week.

Get McCaffrey in your DFS lineup somehow and enjoy what should be a monster fantasy showing as the lead member of the Niners' offense.

Flex - Davante Adams ($9,600)

Adams is yet another fantasy star, although at a lower value than in past years. He still has been great despite being the No. 2 to Nacua.

Adams averages 16.2 fantasy points per game, but is trustworthy despite the tougher matchup here.

I expect Adams to deliver another good score tonight, and help push this DFS lineup to a high-end score.

Flex - Kyren Williams ($9,000)

One more fantasy stud here in Williams, who has powered the Rams' backfield. I have the Rams winning this game handily, so I expect Williams (and Blake Corum) to both deliver good fantasy totals.

Williams is averaging “just” 13.6 fantasy points per game this season, but this matchup suits him well, despite being tougher on paper.

I expect Williams to get enough work to deliver a big fantasy score, and help rack up more points for a stellar lineup.

Flex - Davis Allen (1,200)

Davis is a very cheap option, but in a spot to maybe surprise on Thursday night with Tyler Higbee likely out.

It's a pretty favorable matchup for the Rams' tight ends, so why not take a chance on a low-priced guy like Allen? He hasn't done much this season, but has scored twice.

If he scores again tonight, or is the third-best pass catcher on the team, I don't know how this DFS lineup doesn't fare well and win some cash.

Final Thoughts

This lineup is unique because of all the injuries the Niners are dealing with.

It helps me rely on a guy like Tonges as the captain. It might seem risky, but the more you think things over, the more logical that pick becomes.

Tonges as the captain, and the low-priced Allen to cap the lineup, allowed me to splurge with my other four fantasy selections.

I mean, you aren't going to be able to have Nacua, Adams, Williams and McCaffrey in many fantasy lineups, and they are undeniably the best fantasy assets in tonight's game. That quartet should put up a big fantasy total combined, and put me in the running for one of the best scores on the night.

It really comes down to how Tonges and Allen perform. Hopefully Tonges is the better of the two so that 1.5 multiplier helps me out even more.

This might be my favorite DFS lineup of the season. Hopefully it results in my best showing and a high finish.

There's a few other low-priced players who you could turn to with all the Niners/Rams injuries, so tonight is a fun time to get into a DFS contest!
