Week 11 NFL Quarterback Starts & Sits: It's Danny Dimes Time

Nick Roberts Nov 15th 7:04 AM EST.

Welcome to Week 11. If you’re anything like me and sitting at 4-6, 5-5, or 6-4 in multiple leagues, you’re about to enter the most pivotal week of your fantasy football season. And that means our start/sit decisions are more important than ever.

In case you’re new to the column, here’s a quick explainer of what we’re trying to do here (skip down if you’ve been here before). We’re here to wrestle with the decisions that are keeping us up at night. Do you bench a struggling player you took in the second round? Do you take a chance on the guy who has seemingly been playing over his head? Do you sit the high-floor/low-ceiling player for the low-floor/high-ceiling player?  We won’t know the “correct” answers until the games are over. But we’re going to do our best to talk through it.

Let’s dig into the Week 11 quarterback start/sit decisions that are keeping us up at night.

Start ‘Em

START OF THE WEEK: Daniel Jones, New York Giants

Don’t look now, but we’re more than halfway through the fantasy football season and Daniel Jones is a borderline QB1. Not quite, but he’s close. And this might be the week that puts him over the top as he has a juicy matchup with an awful Lions defense. Thoughh Jones has yet to throw for more than 217 yards in a game, he’s kept a consistent high floor due to his rushing ability and (surprisingly) ability to cut down on turnovers. Fire up Danny Dimes for Week 11!

Marcus Mariota, Atlanta Falcons

Though It hasn’t looked pretty, points are points and Marcus Mariota is QB11 on the season. Similarly to Jones, Mariota hasn’t put up big passing numbers (his high on the year is 253 yards), but he’s been able to pad his floor with his rushing ability and (relative) ball security. With a matchup against a Jekyll-and-Hyde Bears defense, Mariota has another opportunity to look bad playing real football while putting up solid fantasy numbers.

Justin Herbert, Los Angeles Chargers

Is it a cop out to put Justin Herbert here? Maybe. But I also couldn’t find many borderline starters to write about this week, and Herbert has finished as QB18 and QB24 in the last two weeks, respectively. A large part of that has to due with the fact that he’s been missing Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but struggles are still struggles and I wouldn’t be shocked if some people are thinking about benching him. While I don’t blame the thinking, he should be involved in a shootout against the Chiefs this week and needs to be in your lineup regardless of the struggles.

Sit ‘Em

SIT OF THE WEEK: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers

Aaron Rodgers threw for three touchdowns last week and he still couldn’t crack the top-10 fantasy quarterback performances on the week (and he hasn’t all year). The reigning MVP still hasn’t thrown for 300 yards this year and he’ll now face a tough Titans defense. They’re missing a few players, but they’re still a tough matchup and one I’d look to avoid on a short for the Thursday night game.

Russell Wilson, Denver Broncos

Wilson has one top-10 fantasy quarterback performance on the year back in Week 4. Otherwise, he’s been a middling QB and hasn’t cracked the top 14 (which was back in Week 1). Over the Broncos past two games, Wilson has finished as QB21 in both and things don’t look to get much better as the Broncos offense seems to be stuck in mud. They (on paper) have a great matchup against a struggling (with a capital S) Raiders team, but this week is way too important to risk it on Mr. Unlimited.

Derek Carr, Oakland Raiders

Speaking of the Raiders, Derek Carr looks like a player who is playing for his job. The Raiders aren’t going anywhere this season, but it’s not totally Carr’s fault. While he’s never going to be Tom Brady or Patrick Mahomes, he hasn’t been horrible as he’s currently QB18 on the year. However, with the Raiders headed to Denver to take on a tough Broncos defense, Carr belongs on your fantasy bench for Week 11.
