Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia got the win after giving up one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five-plus innings in Friday's 5-1 victory over the Mariners.
Spin: Sabathia (9-3, 3.44 ERA) has now allowed two runs or fewer in eight of his last nine starts, lowering his ERA from 5.77 to 3.44 during that span. He's 7-1 during that stretch, with 44 strikeouts in 50 innings. The lefty has benefited from a .272 BABIP, despite seeing an increase in average exit velocity this season -- from 84.2 mph last year to 86.4 mph in 2017. Sabathia still generates plenty of ground balls, and as long as he stays healthy, he's at least viable streaming option in standard mixed leagues. Sabathia's next start is scheduled for July 26 against Cincinnati.
