Outlook Nolan Gorman
Nolan Gorman Slumping Badly but Favorable Matchups Loom Ahead
Gorman is mired in a severe slump, batting just .081 with 20 strikeouts over his last 12 games. Despite these contact issues, he continues to serve as the Cardinals' everyday starter at third base, a role solidified with infielder Ramon Urias currently on the injured list. St. Louis remains competitive in the NL Central division race with a 32-28 record.
Gorman's recent struggles are extreme, but a low batting average is nothing new for the infielder, who has hit .204 so far this season. Our models project a rest-of-season recovery toward a .217 average with 12 home runs. While the power will return, his extreme strikeout rate makes him a highly volatile asset in standard formats.
For the remainder of the week, the Cardinals host a three-game series against division-rival Cincinnati. Gorman will face highly favorable matchups against struggling starters Brady Singer with his 6.18 ERA and Nick Lodolo at 5.20 ERA. However, until he shows signs of making consistent contact, he cannot be trusted in your lineup. Verdict: Sit.

Outlook Mickey Moniak
Mickey Moniak remains sidelined on the injured list with a sprained ankle
Moniak has been on the 10-day injured list since late May with a right ankle sprain and has not played over the last seven days. His absence hurts the last-place Rockies (24-39), who have been starting Troy Johnston in left field. He is expected back in early June but remains inactive for now.
Before his injury, Moniak was having a sensational season, batting .280 with 12 home runs in 43 games, which almost surpasses our full-season projection of 13 homers. While his .607 slugging percentage is due for regression, his elite bat speed makes him a high-upside power source when healthy.
Colorado plays three weekend home games against the Brewers, facing Brandon Sproat and Jacob Misiorowski. Since Moniak is not yet active, fantasy managers cannot rely on him for this weekend's series. Keep him benched for now, but ensure he is stashed on your IL.
