The NFL is usually not atop the headlines right now, but a flurry of roster moves by the Dolphins are worth discussing.

Let's discuss the team's three releases, which were announced on Monday.

Releases and More Information

The biggest release for the Dolphins was moving on from wide receiver Tyreek Hill. He is recovering from a dislocated knee and torn ACL. Hill will be an unrestricted free agent for the first time in his career.

The Dolphins also cut Bradley Chubb, who is a pass rusher, and James Daniels, a guard.

The moves open a top of cap space for Miami, which will be retooling its roster under new coach Jeff Hafley.

Hill only played in four games last year, but obviously has a history of success in the NFL over his 10 years. He had his most success with the Chiefs, but had some big years for Miami too.

He's nearly 32 years old now, but has some gas left in the tank, if he can bounce back from his injuries. Hill should have plenty of suitors in free agency.

Chubb missed 2024 with a torn ACL, but played in all 17 games in 2025. He had 8.5 sacks over his 47 combined tackles, while also producing eight tackles for losses. Chubb had two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery.

Chubb is 29 years old and still has some value for sure. He'll have some suitors in free agency, especially if his salary isn't too high.

Daniels is 28 years old and has been in the NFL for eight years. He's made 85 starts over 91 career games, but only played in one game in 2025.

Outlook for the Players

Hill is the big name who got dropped today.

He has fantasy value if he can stick on the field, and his landing spot will be fun to track. There's a ton of teams who need receivers, so I'll be really interested to see where he lands.

I'd expect him to go to a contender, and we will cover his fantasy outlook when we know his future home. I still think he's capable of being a fantasy asset, even if it's more as a flex-level option instead of being a weekly starter.

I think a reunion with the Chiefs would be really fun, and is maybe his top landing spot. He'd make sense on a ton of contending teams in both conferences though.

Really, the big thing with Hill is his injury. He's expected to return to full health, but we'll be closely monitoring his recovery process, as that will determine his 2026 fantasy outlook.

Again, we'll keep you posted on Hill and his fantasy outlook, so keep checking back for that.

Chubb is a decent option in IDP leagues. He should have fantasy relevance regardless of where he ends up signing, but landing on a better defense will obviously help his cause.

His fantasy value is tied to his sack numbers, as he's not a big-time tackler. His best numbers came in 2023, when he had 11 sacks and 73 combined tackles over 16 games.

His best playing days might be in the past, especially after his torn ACL, but he can still provide a handful of sacks and tackles.

Daniels is obviously not on the fantasy radar, but he could be a good addition to a team's offensive line depth. We'll see who gives him a chance - I'd expect him to land on a rebuilding/retooling team as a starter or on a contender as a depth option.

Outlook for the Dolphins

Down Hill, Chubb and Daniels, there's three spots where other players could help out moving forward. You'd expect the Dolphins to add at those positions in free agency and through the draft, but here's how things look right now.

At receiver, Miami has Jaylen Waddle still. Cedrick Wilson Jr. and Malik Washington are other potential starters now, with Dee Eskridge, Tahj Washington and Theo Wease Jr. as other options.

That's a very weak position after the release of Hill. I'd expect Miami to add a couple bodies in that room, and whoever joins the mix could immediately be good fantasy assets alongside Waddle.

Moving on from Chubb opens opportunities for several defenders. Kenneth Grant and Zach Sieler are projected starters at defensive end, while Jordan Phillips is at nose tackle. Chop Robinson and Quinton Bell are some outside linebackers, with Jordyn Brooks and Tyrel Dodson as inside linebackers.

There's enough bodies in the room, but no high-end pass rushers. After Chubb's 8.5 sacks, Sieler was next on the team with 5.5 sacks. Dodson had five and Robinson had four.

I'd expect Miami to add more pass rushers to the team this offseason, otherwise the defense might be hurting. Coach Hafley has a defensive background, so we'll see if he can work some magic and take the defense to a new level.

Daniels wasn't playing in 2025, so it doesn't affect the starting offensive line for Miami. His release does open a reserve role up, so expect some players to be added to the o-line group.

Miami is definitely a worse team after the releases, especially the Hill and Chubb ones. It signals a start of a new era in Miami, and means a vastly different looking team is likely coming in 2026.
