The NFL schedule for the 2025 season has been released, so now all football fans can dive into things and start their predictions.

I usually do my season projections close to the start of the regular season, but wanted to offer my thoughts right after the schedule was released.

I'm using Playoff Predictors to go about my projections/predictions. Here's what I came up with in the middle of May.

NFC East

I have the Philadelphia Eagles winning the division and claiming the top seed in the NFC with a 13-4 record. Until someone knocks them off, Philly is my favorite in the NFC.

I have the Washington Commanders at 10-7 and sneaking into the playoffs with the seventh seed. Their schedule is pretty tough, and I think it'll take a bit for the team to hit their stride.

I have Dallas at 6-11, while New York is at 2-15. Of course, both teams miss the playoffs with those records. I just don't think either team is near Philly and Washington, and it's going to show as the season rolls along.

NFC North

I got the Green Bay Packers taking the North with a 12-5 record, winning a tiebreaker over the Detroit Lions. Green Bay is the No. 2 seed in the NFC for me, while Detroit is No. 5.

I have Minnesota at 8-9 - I got the Vikings starting slow and heating up toward the end of the season. They ultimately can't overcome the slow start and miss the playoffs.

Chicago is at 7-10 in my book. They seem to be trending up, but I think they are another year from making the playoffs.

NFC West

I have the Los Angeles Rams at 12-5 and winning a tiebreaker over the San Francisco 49ers for the top team in the division. LA is the No. 3 seed, while San Fran claims the sixth slot.

Side note: how fun would it be to have four NFC teams at 12-5 this season?!

I got Seattle at 8-9 and Arizona at 7-10, and both missing the playoffs. I think they are a step or two behind LA and San Fran yet.

NFC South

I got Tampa Bay winning the South at 10-7 - they get the other playoff spot, the No. 4 seed. I'm trusting recent success to have them win the division again.

I got Atlanta at 9-8 and just missing the playoffs. I think they are a year away from making the postseason.

Carolina finishes 5-12 in my book, while New Orleans is a dismal 2-15. Both teams have more work to do to even be competitive in a weak division.

AFC West

I have the Kansas City Chiefs taking the West with a 13-4 record. Until they actually regress, I'm not counting KC out.

I have Denver at a strong 12-5 mark, and that earns them the No. 5 seed in the AFC. I've got the LA Chargers at 10-7 and sneaking into the playoffs as the seventh seed.

Las Vegas rounds out the division at 5-12. They simply need more firepower if they want to contend with the top three teams.

AFC East

Buffalo claims the East title with a 12-5 record. That earns the Bills the No. 2 seed in the conference.

I got New England barely missing the playoffs at 9-8. I think the Pats are on the rise, but are a year away from the playoffs yet.

Miami finishes a disappointing 7-10 in my book, and New York goes 6-10. Those two teams will each be competitive most of the season, but the lack of overall talent will hold them back.

AFC North

The Baltimore Ravens claim the AFC North with a 12-5 record, winning a tiebreaker over the Cincinnati Bengals. Baltimore takes the No. 3 seed, while Cincinnati gets the sixth seed.

Pittsburgh, who I think sign Aaron Rodgers eventually, go 8-9 and miss the playoffs. They are more than a QB away from making the playoffs again.

I have Cleveland going 2-15 and not being very competitive this coming season.

AFC South

Give me the Houston Texans taking the South again. Houston goes 10-7 and gets the fourth seed in the AFC.

Jacksonville is second for me at 8-9, while Indianapolis goes 7-10. Each of those teams needs more talent before getting into the playoff mix.

Tennessee rounds out the division at 4-13, but ends positively to be better set up for 2026 and beyond.

Playoff Predictions

In the Wild Card Round, I have two upsets. I got the No. 5 Lions over the No. 4 Buccaneers and No. 5 Broncos over the No. 4 Texans.

In the other games that round, the No. 3 Rams take down the No. 6 Niners, while the No. 2 Packers edge the No. 7 Commanders. No. 3 Baltimore tops No. 6 Cincinnati, and No. 2 Buffalo escapes with a tight win over No. 7 Los Angeles.

In the Divisional Round, give me the Bills over the Ravens and Chiefs squeaking past the Broncos. In the NFC, the Rams upset the Packers and Eagles end the Lions season.

In the conference championships, I have Philly taking down Los Angeles in the NFC, while the Bills finally take down the Chiefs in the AFC.

In the Super Bowl, I'll take the Eagles to repeat, narrowly edging the Bills this time around.
