Best Fantasy Football FAAB Pickups for Shallow Leagues (10 and 12 Teams)
WR Curtis Samuel, Washington Commanders
Samuel was on my list last week after a monster Thanksgiving game against the Cowboys. He followed that performance up with a solid game against the Dolphins in Week 13. He has become a safety net for the young QB Sam Howell and he can be explosive after the catch too. Bid between 18% and 22% of your remaining budget on Samuel.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Seattle Seahawks
JSN was drafted in most leagues, however, due to the inefficiencies of the Seattle offense lately and him being the third WR in the offense, he was likely dropped in many shallow leagues. After the big game against an elite Cowboys defense in Week 13, JSN needs to be considered now, even in 10-team leagues. He looks like he will be a matchup nightmare for teams' third corners, so a bid of 40-45% of your remaining money isn’t outrageous.
WR DeVante Parker, New England Patriots
With Bailey Zappe taking over at QB this week, we saw Parker get a lot more targets than usual. If Zappe continues to be the man under center in New England, Parker could gain fantasy relevance moving forward, despite him only having 200 yards coming into Week 13. Parker had more targets than all the other Patriots WRs combined and made big plays throughout the game. 13-16% of your remaining budget is good here, especially if Zappe remains under center.
WR Xavier Gipson, New York Jets
Gipson saw a season high in targets in Week 13 which led to a season high in yards too. As bad as the Jets' offense is, they do need a secondary WR to Garrett Wilson, and Gipson looks like he could be that guy to finish out the season, whether it’s Zach Wilson, Tim Boyle, or Trevor Siemian playing QB. Gipson led the Jets in receptions and yards, so laying down a bid in the 9-13% range feels reasonable here.
Best Fantasy Football FAAB Pickups for Deep Leagues (14 and 16 Teams)
WR Alec Pierce, Indianapolis Colts
Pierce has been quiet this season, but in Week 13 he was second on the team on targets. He caught three passes for 100 yards and a TD and his biggest catch came in overtime to set up the game-winning TD. The Colts are 7-5, in the AFC Wild Card picture, and look to have found their deep threat. You should feel comfortable with a bid of 4-6% of your remaining budget.
TE Brevin Jordan, Houston Texans
This add is dependent on Dalton Schultz’s ability to play in Week 14. He missed the Week 13 game vs. the Broncos and Jordan stepped up in his absence. Rookie WR Tank Dell left the Week 13 game and is headed to the IR, which could also mean more snaps and targets for Jordan in Week 14 and beyond. Keep your eye on Schultz’s status, but Jordan is worthy of a small bid this week in the 3-5% range.
TE Tyler Conklin, New York Jets
His yardage total might be underwhelming most weeks, yet Conklin has some value in deeper PPR formats. He is seeing more and more targets, no matter who is at QB for the Jets. Trevor Siemian finished the game as the QB and the offense looked better with him than it did all game with Tim Boyle. Conklin led the team in targets, which is also noteworthy. 10% of your remaining budget is a solid number to put down on Conklin.
