Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Adds and Drops After Latest NBA Trades
GG Jackson II is among the players surging on the waiver wire, while Dru Smith and others are being dropped.
NBA trades have been the focus here at FantasySP for a couple days now. It creates roster movement in fantasy basketball, and that's what we will be covering here today.
We will go over notable waiver wire adds, then drop candidates. Let's dive right in.
Check out waiver wire options all season on FantasySP. More drops can be found daily on the FantasySP waiver trends most dropped tab, which can be found on any fantasy basketball page on the site.
Waiver Wire Adds
The top add today is again Memphis' GG Jackson II. He's up another 15.06% and is rostered in 52.82% of leagues overall now.
We've talked about him a couple times this week, and he's trending up after the Grizzlies made a big trade. He's more so on the rise because of his play of late though.
Chicago's Jalen Smith is another guy who we have discussed a couple times this week. He is up 7.01% today and is owned in 68.08% of leagues overall now.
Smith has a bigger role after the Bulls traded away Nikola Vucevic. That should help Smith be a more consistent fantasy player for the rest of the season, so consider adding him if you need big man help.
Los Angeles Clippers' Jordan Miller is up 6.81%, which brings his overall percentage to 39.91%.
The Clippers have made a couple trades, and with other teammates out, it's opening the door for Miller to deliver more. He failed to take advantage of things on Wednesday, but a broader look at his game logs shows a player on the rise.
Sacramento's Maxime Raynaud is up 6.67% and sits at 28.81% overall.
The Jazz were a team that made a trade this week, and it could alter Raynaud's role moving forward. For now though, he has a decent fantasy outlook, at least until Utah is closer to full strength - more or less, he's on the rise as a streaming asset.
Among the top-25 fantasy basketball pickups are a couple players who got traded.
Sacramento's De'Andre Hunter is up 5.28% and he sits at 54.23% overall now.
Hunter has a chance at a solid role with the Kings, but struggled a bit in his team debut on Wednesday. He played a big enough role to still see his own percentage go up in fantasy.
Jonathan Kuminga, who is now a Hawk, is up 5.18% and is rostered in 39.91% of leagues.
He has been out with an injury, and there's no exact timeline for his return yet. We'll see if we ever get an update on him, but for now, I don't see a great reason to add him right this second, unless you can stash him in an IR spot.
Drop Candidates
There's several players with drastic dropoffs as well.
The most-dropped player is Miami's Dru Smith. He's down 10.6% today.
He didn't deliver very much in his last game, which is mostly why he's trending down. Miami hasn't made any big moves yet, so that shouldn't be impacting things for Smith, yet.
Philly's Dominick Barlow is down 8.8% today. He was a heavily added player the past few days.
His production dropped off a bit in the team's last game, but he still had 10 points, six rebounds and an assist and steal over 22 minutes, which is good enough to still hold him in deeper leagues. There's nothing the 76ers did to affect Barlow too much.
Washington's Bilal Coulibaly is down 7.9% today.
Washington added some guards alongside Anthony Davis in a trade, but fantasy owners dropping Coulibaly today are doing so because he struggled in his last game. He's an inconsistent fantasy asset, so he gets added/dropped as he goes in and out of hot/cold stretches.
Boston's Sam Hauser is down 7.7% today.
The trade for Nikola Vucevic is a bad thing for Hauser, even if they aren't at the same position. Hauser also has a thumb injury he's dealing with, which is contributing to fantasy owners dropping him.
The only player on the drop list who was traded so far is Jock Landale. He was sent from Memphis to Utah, then Utah to Atlanta. Landale is down 6.1% today.
Landale was a good fantasy asset in Memphis, and he's likely headed into a secondary role with Atlanta, if he sticks there. Landale's playing time and production might fall as a result, so it makes sense to be dropping Landale today.
