Outlook Gage Jump
Top pitching prospect Gage Jump is finding his groove in the Oakland rotation, making him an incredibly exciting fantasy option.
The rookie southpaw has taken the majors by storm, registering a sparkling 1.99 ERA and a 0.88 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over his last 18.1 innings. His hot streak is a major boost for the third-place Athletics, who currently sit at 35-36 in the standings. With Luis Severino and Aaron Civale sidelined with shoulder injuries, Jump has stepped up beautifully, securing his role as a key starter in the rotation.
Through his first four major league starts, Jump has compiled a 3.12 ERA and a 1.13 WHIP. Our models project him to maintain a solid 4.00 ERA and an elite 1.10 WHIP over the rest of the season, accompanied by 95 strikeouts. While his current run-prevention rate will regress slightly, his excellent control and bat-missing ability make him a highly sustainable asset.
Jump is lined up for a single start on June 18 at home against the division-rival Angels and Jose Soriano, who carries a strong 2.79 ERA. While run support could be tough to come by in this matchup, Jump's elite ratios and high strikeout upside make him an incredibly strong option. Verdict: Start.

Outlook Peter Lambert
Lambert's Strong Recent Run Clouded by Hand Injury
Lambert has pitched well lately, posting a sharp 2.41 ERA with 10 strikeouts over his last 11.2 innings of work. However, the fourth-place Astros are monitoring his status closely as he is currently questionable with a right hand injury. Despite the injury, he remains a key back-end starter in Houston's injury-depleted rotation.
This recent hot stretch is a welcome sight, but our models expect some regression toward his career norms. While his current 3.52 season ERA is solid, his underlying metrics suggest he will settle closer to our projected 4.00 ERA and 1.30 WHIP, making him more of a streamable matchup option than a set-it-and-forget-it asset.
Lambert is tentatively scheduled to start Wednesday at home against Detroit. It is a tough remaining matchup against Casey Mize, who has a stellar 2.27 ERA and 0.97 WHIP, and Lambert's hand issue adds too much risk to trust him. Given the injury uncertainty and a difficult opponent, our weekly verdict is to sit him.
