Outlook Addison Barger
Addison Barger continues rehab progression for elbow inflammation and remains sidelined
Barger remains on the injured list with right elbow inflammation and has not played a game since early May. The third-place Blue Jays (34-38) are currently monitoring his hitting progression down in Dunedin, but he is not yet ready to rejoin the active roster. For now, players like Jesús Sánchez and Nathan Lukes will continue handling right field duties.
When healthy, our models project Barger to produce a .240 average with nine home runs over 421 at-bats, a step back from his 24-homer campaign in 2025. Given his rough early-season stretch where he collected just one hit in 22 at-bats, expect some natural adjustment once he returns. Patience is key, but his power upside remains a viable stash.
The Blue Jays face a six-game road trip this week against Boston and Chicago, but Barger will not be available to exploit favorable matchups against pitchers like Jake Bennett and Colin Rea. Since he remains out of action, he cannot be inserted into lineups for the upcoming scoring period. Continue to sit Barger until he is officially activated.

Outlook Matthew Boyd
Matthew Boyd Continues Knee Rehab, Remains Sidelined for Cubs
Matthew Boyd remains sidelined on the injured list following left knee meniscus surgery in early May, leaving him with no recent games played over the last 30 days. He currently holds no active spot in the starting rotation for the third-place Cubs, who sit at 37-35 in the NL Central. Chicago's rotation is currently filled by Shota Imanaga and Edward Cabrera while Boyd rehabilitates.
Prior to the injury, Boyd struggled over five starts in 2026 with a 6.37 ERA, though his strikeout stuff remained elite at 12.35 K/9. Our season projection expects significant positive regression back toward his excellent 2025 form, where he posted a 3.22 ERA and 1.13 WHIP. Our models project a highly serviceable 3.82 ERA and 1.19 WHIP rest-of-season.
The Cubs play six home games this week against the Rockies and Blue Jays, but Boyd will obviously not see the mound. He is progressing toward a return before July, making him a prime candidate to hold on your injured list. He is a mandatory sit for the upcoming matchup period.
