FAAB is kind of like playing a game of chicken. You want to go as far as you can (pay as little as possible) without going too far (overpaying) while also not pulling away before your opponent (missing out on your target). There's no way to know if you played it the right way until it's too late.

I'm a proponent of almost always drafting running backs early in fantasy drafts rather than the top receivers because WRs are much easier to find on the free agent market than their counterparts in the backfield. In today's game, many teams could realistically be described as having three starting receivers, and almost no team can say they have even two starting RBs.

Over the past decade or so, the motley crew that makes up the “fantasy football community” has tried to make both quarterbacks and wide receivers seem more important than running backs in certain years. The caveat is that we are talking about fantasy football, not real football.

Last week, I hammered home the point that we don't really know much after one week of NFL football. There are too many things that change from week to week to really focus on one game too much for any player, and we are especially light on useful information after Week 1.

Hey folks. There are always players heading into a fantasy hockey season who I just don't want to draft. Sometimes they're being taken too early, sometimes I see legitimate bust potential, and sometimes I simply don't believe they're worth the draft capital being spent on them.

Hey folks. There are plenty of obvious breakout candidates entering this NHL season, but sometimes the best fantasy value can be found a little further down the draft board. While everyone will be talking about the biggest young stars and highly drafted prospects, there are plenty of players who have already shown flashes of fantasy potential and could take another step this season. These are the players I want to focus on, because they may not be drafted as stars but could become very useful fantasy options.

One week from today is the final day of the MLB regular season. It's a bitter-sweet time of year, as the end of baseball is sad, but having a still-fresh NFL season mixed with MLB playoffs is unquestionably my favorite time of the sports year. The next month and a half will give us excitement, drama, highs, and lows until the World Series ends, and we have to look forward to a possible lockout situation this offseason.

The final countdown is officially on! We have fewer than 10 days left in the regular season, meaning baseball is finally winding down after six long, grueling months. There is still plenty to figure out about the playoff picture, leaving plenty of intrigue and entertainment to come over the next week-plus. Don't blink; you might miss everything until October.

After one week of football, it's easy to think that we have a lot of things figured out in the fantasy football world. We know who will lead backfields, which teams will split carries, and all the Super Bowl favorites; nothing will change from here, right?

Fantasy owners can often find wide receivers on the waiver wire more readily available than any other position. It's a passing league, and many teams have two feasible players who can be fantasy assets, something that's not true at any other position. It's all about finding the right matchups, though, and that's what we're here to do today.
