Should You Drop Josh Minott?
Minott is down 9.6% today, bringing his overall mark down to 50%.
He continues to start for Boston, but he's logged just 22 and 19 minutes in the team's past two games. He has 12 points, 14 rebounds, four assists, two steals and a block in those contests combined.
Overall in six games, which includes four starts and 130 minutes played, Minott has 50 points, 41 rebounds,10 assists, nine steals and three blocks, while also tallying 14 fouls and three turnovers.
He was a surprise early-season riser from a fantasy perspective, but he's already fallen back and is showing he was always a better deep-league asset. Drop him in standard leagues today.
I don't mind holding him in deeper leagues to see if he can bounce back in the team's next couple games, but until that happens, you can bet his own percentage will continue to fall. I see him as a better deep-league asset all season.
Should You Drop Dylan Harper?
Harper is dealing with a calf injury and is now down to 59% rostered. He's been dropped in 8.5% of leagues today.
Harper is out indefinitely with his calf strain. There is no timetable for his return.
It's a bummer, because he was averaging 14 points, 4 rebounds, 3.8 assists and 0.7 steals across 23.3 minutes in his first six contests. He was shooting 50% overall, 35.7% from deep and 83.3% from the free-throw line.
The rookie isn't going to help fantasy teams for the foreseeable future, so it's no surprise he's being dropped. I'd like to stash him if you were rostering him before the injury, so hopefully you have IR spots to utilize.
If you don't then Harper should be dropped in standard leagues, at least. If you are in a deeper league and need that roster spot to keep your team competitive, then Harper might need to be dropped in those leagues as well.
I'd do my best to hold on to him, because I like what he showed in the early going and I expect big things from him when he's back out there.
Should You Drop CJ McCollum?
McCollum is down 6% today and sits at 81% overall now.
His minutes have dropped over the past two games, so I'm guessing that's why his ownership is falling. After playing 29-39 minutes in each of the first four Washington games, he's been at 24 and 22 minutes the past two contests.
He's still produced 32 points, seven rebounds and two assists and steals combined over those contests, so I'm pleasantly surprised to see fantasy owners catching on to his lower minutes and dropping him as a result.
Over six games and 178 minutes so far, McCollum has 85 points, 22 assists and rebounds and four steals. He has 13 fouls and eight turnovers, while shooting 37.2% overall, 38.5% from deep and 12-of-15 on his free throws.
McCollum has gas left in the tank, but on a bad Wizards' team, his fantasy outlook is definitely down. With inconsistent minutes, McCollum is going to lose more fantasy value too.
He's fine to own in deeper leagues, and some standard leagues, but in time, he might become just a deep-league asset, especially if his minutes don't go back up. Keep an eye on that and react accordingly.
Should You Drop Cedric Coward?
Coward is rostered in 81% of leagues after a 4.9% drop today.
Coward was an early-season surprise, but is trending downward now. Why? I'm not exactly sure.
In his first three games, he had 57 points, with 27 of those coming in one contest. Coward has 48 points in the four games since, so what that tells you is that 27-point outburst was an early-season outlier. He's capable of those games, but is more likely to sit in that 12-16 point range.
Coward has 34 rebounds, 18 assists, eight steals and three blocks on the season too, so it's not like he's only providing fantasy value with his scoring. He's still playing a healthy amount of minutes too.
Really, he was added in too many fantasy leagues early on, and his dropoff lately is owners correcting a mistake. He's worth a spot in all deeper leagues, and some standard leagues, but he's more a streaming option than a locked-in standard league option.
Correct your mistake if you went all-in on Coward early in the season. Don't write him off for good, as he could catch fire and be worthy of standard league roster spots someday, but for now, he's more a streaming asset in standard leagues, or an option in leagues that are a bit larger.
Should You Drop Anfernee Simons?
Simons has been let go in 3.4% of leagues, bringing his overall mark down to 89%.
Simons has been solid in the first several games with Boston, but is coming off a three-point showing, so he was bound to drop. In seven games overall, Simons has tallied 96 points, 17 rebounds, 10 assists, five steals and two blocks over 186 minutes.
I expected him to put up good numbers as the No. 2 scoring option for Boston, but he's struggled as a shooter so far. This kind of start makes dropping him in some leagues warranted.
I still like his outlook for the season, so he's one to possibly add and stash if he becomes available in your league. Maybe just sit him until he starts turning things around a bit.
I wouldn't look to trade him away, because his value is way down from the start of the season. If anything, I'd look to buy low on him, giving up a player selected several rounds later for a possible every night starter down the road.
I believe in Simons turning things around, and so should you.
Should You Drop Kel'el Ware?
Ware is rostered in 69% of leagues after being dropped in 3% of leagues.
I expected a breakout season for Ware after a solid rookie campaign, but he's been inconsistent in the early going. Across six games, he's made five starts and played 119 minutes, only going over 21 minutes on two occasions.
He has 52 points, 41 rebounds, five assists and four blocks and steals so far. Ware has two games in double figures, while combining for 19 points in the other four contests. He has seven or more boards in all but two games to boost his value, but it's still been a slow start for the second-year player.
Ware is shooting 48.8% overall, 33.3% from deep and is 6-of-8 on his free throws. His overall shooting percentage is down a good bit, and he's actually averaging less minutes per game so far. His overall numbers are worse as a result.
Like in the case with Simons, I expect Ware to turn things around eventually, so he's a buy-low trade candidate. He's not nearly as valuable as Simons though, so he's more of a buy-low guy in deeper leagues.
I see Ware being a standard league asset all season, so I'd consider adding and stashing him after his slow and inconsistent start, especially if you are thin at center.
Definitely keep rostering him in deeper leagues still - scoop him up immediately if he becomes available in a deeper setup.
