With baseball finally underway and our first week in the books, we can take a look at our first week of waiver wire pickups. There are a few standouts including a new relief option you can grab for saves, and a few other intriguing pitching options to consider adding. A few hitters stood out this week as well and are certainly worth a look on the wire. Let’s take a look at who you should consider grabbing for your fantasy baseball squad.
We’re just one week away from the MLB regular-season action and we’re barely behind schedule. With the season set to start on April 7, we can start to wrap up our futures bets and take a look at the NL Cy Young odds. A pair of Mets and former Cy Young Award winners lead the list with Jacob deGrom (+330) and Max Scherzer (+800). After that, you have last year’s NL Cy Young Award winner with the Milwaukee Brewers ace, Corbin Burnes (+950). NFL free agency officially kicked off at 4:00 PM EST today but many deals have been agreed upon before the official start time. A number of these moves will have some large fantasy implications. Let’s take a look at the latest NFL transactions that will have an impact on fantasy football leagues.
Earlier in the week, Ian Rapaport broke some shocking news that shook up the entire NFL. Superstar wide receiver, Calvin Ridley of the Atlanta Falcons has been suspended for the entire 2022 season after it was revealed that he had gambled on various sports including NFL games. It was originally reported that Ridley had placed $1500 worth of wagers on three, five, and eight-team parlays that the Falcons were a part of. Ridley was not playing in those games due to a non-football illness. Ridley then tweeted that he only bet $1500 and wasn't a gambling addict.
With negotiations still ongoing, Major League Baseball is getting closer to striking a deal. With the 2022 season’s length still uncertain, we do know that there will be a season. At the end of that season, there will be an AL and an NL MVP crowned. Rather than listing a few players to suggest throwing a few dollars on, we’re going to hypothetically say we have $1000 to spend on each of the AL and NL MVP futures.
