David Montgomery joins Houston as the clear lead running back, sitting atop the depth chart ahead of rookie backup Woody Marks. General manager Nick Caserio praised Montgomery as a perfect fit for this scheme, and our models project him to handle a heavy workload of 212 rushing attempts in an ascending offense led by C.J. Stroud.

We project Montgomery to compile 929 rushing yards and eight touchdowns on the ground, while adding 31 receptions for 226 yards. Plummeting Draft Cost Presents Late-Round Value Opportunity Amid Recovery Hurdles

Zach Charbonnet is recovering from a January ACL tear, and while head coach Mike Macdonald hasn't ruled out a Week 1 return, his availability for the start of the season is highly volatile. He is currently listed atop the team's depth chart, but the draft selection of first-round rookie Jadarian Price introduces significant competition.

Our models project a reduced workload of 101 rushes for 422 yards and five touchdowns as he works his way back. Last season, Charbonnet logged a career-high 190 carries at a 4.0 average, showing his ability to handle substantial volume when healthy.

Charbonnet's ADP has plummeted from around 96 in early May down to 134 in June, reflecting market fears. At this depressed price tag, we view him as a potential late-round steal who offers solid bench depth and high contingency value if his recovery progresses quickly.
