Outlook Coby Mayo

Coby Mayo's late-season power surge cements his everyday middle-of-the-order role

Mayo has caught fire down the stretch, slashing .310/.396/.690 with five home runs and 11 RBI over his last 14 days. With the 71-76 Orioles looking to make up ground in the AL Wild Card chase, injuries across Baltimore's roster have solidified the young slugger as an everyday designated hitter batting in the heart of the order.

Although his .223 season batting average across 118 games indicates his recent .310 contact pace will eventually experience regression, the elite power display is entirely genuine. Mayo has clubbed 22 home runs on the year to tie Gunnar Henderson for second on the team, confirming that his hard-hit gains and multi-homer upside represent a legitimate breakout rather than a brief fluke.

Looking to the rest of the week, Baltimore heads to Toronto for three road matchups. Mayo gets two prime opportunities to produce against struggling arms in Max Scherzer (6.03 ERA, 1.36 WHIP) and Spencer Arrighetti (5.12 ERA) before finishing the series against Dylan Cease (2.43 ERA). With his scorching bat and run-producing opportunities, he should be locked into lineups. Start.

Kody Clemens provides high-end power as Minnesota heads into a weekend set with Cleveland

Clemens has been dialed in at the plate, swatting five home runs with a .977 OPS over his last 14 days for a third-place Twins club sitting at 69-77. With injuries testing Minnesota's depth, he has firmly entrenched himself as the club's everyday second baseman. His back-to-back homers earlier this week in Detroit emphasize just how locked in he is right now.

Having already launched 26 home runs this year, Clemens has completely obliterated our pre-season projections and emerged as a genuine power bat. While his .234 batting average highlights inherent contact issues, his .367 on-base percentage across the past two weeks demonstrates meaningful discipline. This late-season pop is fully supported by his high-barrel approach, making him far more than a flash in the pan.

Minnesota finishes the week with three home games against Cleveland following Thursday's off day. Clemens faces a stingy test Friday against Parker Messick (2.61 ERA, 1.07 WHIP) before seeing much more hittable arms in Gavin Williams and Joey Cantillo (4.19 ERA, 1.53 WHIP). With his bat producing premium power, keep him active in standard leagues. Start.
