Shared Backfield Role with Travis Etienne Jr. Softens Alvin Kamara's Fantasy Ceiling but Offers Value at Declining ADP

Alvin Kamara unexpectedly reported to OTAs in early June, smoothing over offseason tension with the Saints. However, the addition of Travis Etienne Jr. to the backfield transforms his outlook. Once a high-volume leader, Kamara will now operate in a shared partnership, capping his overall touch volume but keeping the veteran fresh.

Our projections reflect this shift, modeling just 92 rushing attempts for 377 yards and 27 receptions. While this is a steep drop from his highly productive 2024 season, his historical efficiency in space keeps him viable. If this backfield split resembles his past success alongside Mark Ingram, Kamara still offers situational utility.

This adjusted role has caused Kamara's ADP to steadily slide from the 130s down to 148. In 1.0 PPR formats, this falling market price mitigates the risk, transforming him from an over-hyped starter into a potentially highly valuable bench piece who still commands a significant receiving share.
