Late-Career Darren Waller Remains a High-Risk, Unsigned Fantasy Wildcard

At nearly 34 years old, veteran tight end Darren Waller remains one of the most notable names left in the NFL free-agent pool. After playing just eight games last season, where he managed 24 receptions for 283 yards and six touchdowns, his market has remained quiet. Fantasy managers are currently stashing him in 45% of leagues, hoping he lands in an advantageous offensive environment.

Despite his limited availability recently, Waller still demonstrated a knack for finding the end zone last year. However, his injury history and age make him a highly volatile asset. Because he is not currently listed on any offensive depth chart, his draft stock is entirely speculative, making him a late-round flyer rather than a secure target.

We recommend monitoring training camp news closely to see if a tight-end-needy team takes a chance on the veteran. If he remains unsigned as the season approaches, his ownership percentages will likely plummet. For now, he is nothing more than a deep bench stash with an uncertain football future.
