Reliable Backup Value and Depth in Cincinnati's Backfield

Samaje Perine returns to Cincinnati, occupying the primary backup role behind projected starter Chase Brown. While Brown is expected to handle the bulk of the workload, Perine's veteran presence and familiarity with the offense solidify his position as a high-value handcuff. Rookie Tahj Brooks is also on the roster, but Perine should command the immediate change-of-pace duties.

Our models project Perine for a modest workload of roughly 80 carries and 16 receptions, translating to 79.0 fantasy points. He continues to display solid efficiency, averaging 4.5 yards per carry last year, making him a highly dependable safety net for the Bengals if the backfield suffers any injuries.

In fantasy drafts, Perine's PPR draft position has stayed stubbornly low, hovering deep in the late rounds between pick 400 and 435. Given his minimal start and ownership rates in typical leagues, he is largely ignored by the market. However, our projections suggest he is a very cheap, high-upside stash at this virtually free price.
