Game News
The Cleveland Browns are on the scoreboard. It only took 27 minutes into the game and a lengthy punt return from wide receiver Donovan Peoples-Jones, but the Browns now lead the Texans by a score of 7-5 after surrendering a field goal and safety. Peoples-Jones was close to breaking one last week, and now he gives the Browns a boost before the half here against the Texans.
Entering a contract year next year, look for the Browns to extend Peoples-Jones as he has exceeded expectations in Cleveland this season. A former sixth round pick, general manager Andrew Berry found a gem in the former Michigan Wolverine
The Cleveland Browns have not been able to avoid the injury bug this week. After starting tight end David Njoku was ruled out and listed as inactive, backup tight end Harrison Bryant also left the game against the Houston Texans with an injury. Now late in this game against the Browns saw their starting MIKE linebacker Sione Takitaki exit on the cart.
Already down two linebackers on Injured Reserve, losing Takitaki would be a huge blow for the Browns down the stretch. After a big game in this one against the Texans, the Browns may now need to lean on second-year linebacker Tony Fileds II moving forward
Nick Chubb stacked up in end zone for safety. 5-0, Houston. Embarrassing.

Grant Delpit delivered a hard hit to Troy Hairston to breakup a touchdown pass on fourth down. Great goal-line stop by the #Browns defense and huge play from Delpit.
You can exhale now. Cade York's 43y FG makes it 17-8, Browns. Big kick for him.

Already missing their starting tight end David Njoku, the Cleveland Browns may be without their backup as well as Harrison Bryant has exited this game against the Houston Texans. They now only have one active tight end left in Pharaoh Brown as they wait to hear back on Bryant.
In what has been a sloppy game in Deshaun Watson’s return to the field, the only offensive touchdown the Browns have managed has been on a punt return from Donovan Peoples-Jones. The loss of another offensive weapon would only hurt their chances of finding offensive success in the second half against the Texans
#Browns waste INT and field position. Jedrick Wills Jr. beat on third down.

The Cleveland Browns have won back-to-back games for the first time in 2022, advancing to 5-7 after defeating the Houston Texans by a score of 27-14. It was not a pretty showing, losing both Harrison Bryant and Sione Takitaki to injury.
It was also a rare one where the Browns had to rely on their defense and special teams instead of their offense, but were able to grind out a win against the 1-9-1 Texans. In this game, the defense managed to create three turnovers, including two defensive touchdowns.
While their chances of the playoffs are slim for the Browns, they are not lost with five games remaining. Before looking ahead to a divisional showdown against the Cincinnati Bengals, what stood out from the live viewing of this win over the Texans

How does Lovie Smith explain this game to the McNair family? The Texans continue to embarrass themselves, the organization and the city. I believe the McNairs will fire Smith and the coaching staff and let Nick Caserio hire a replacement. Hopefully, DeMeco Ryans. @gallerysports
Texans running back Eno Benjamin and wide receiver Amari Rodgers are active for the first time since joining the team off waivers. Brandin Cooks (calf) and Rex Burkhead (concussion) are inactive.

The Houston Texans declared their inactives for their Week 13 encounter with the Cleveland Browns Sunday at 12:00 p.m. Central Time at NRG Stadium.
Houston designated running back Rex Burkhead (concussion), defensive lineman Thomas Booker, tackle Austin Deculus, and tight end O.J. Howard inactive.
The Texans already ruled out cornerback Derek Stingley (hamstring) and receiver Brandin Cooks (calf) on Friday.
Houston also elevated defensive back Cobi Francis from the practice squad on Saturday
Texans must put Davis Mills back in the lineup next week, and they must have a new play caller. Or continue to get humiliated. @gallerysports
The Texans have one victory. Their record for the fewest is 2 two times. I'll be stunned if they win another game with Pep Hamilton's offense.
The worst sequence of plays for Pep Hamilton this season? First and goal at the Browns 3. Pierce isn't on the field. Allen throws 2 incompletions. Handoff to Dare Ogunbowale for 2. Pierce enters. Fourth down incompletion to rookie FB Troy Hairston, an LB in college last year.
A thing of beauty.

The Houston Texans only had one takeaway in the past three games, but they got off to an early start in Week 13 against the Cleveland Browns.
Quarterback Deshaun Watson completed a pass early in the first quarter at NRG Stadium. However, as it appeared Cleveland picked up the first down with a reception to receiver Anthony Schwartz, cornerback Tavierre Thomas forced a fumble with cornerback Desmond King recovering
.@texansvoice: "Watson steps up. He's going to go down! Watson is sacked! Mario Addison, Ogbo Okoronkwo, they get in there with the pressure on Deshaun with 2:02 to go in the third. The #Texans come up with the big play on D."pic.twitter.com/mA8nOYlA2t

Deshaun Watson made his return to NRG Stadium in Week 13.
The Houston Texans traded their former 2017 first-round pick to the Cleveland Browns during free agency in March and netted three first-round picks through 2024
The Houston Texans took a hit to their only fullback.
The club announced during their Week 13 encounter with the Cleveland Browns that rookie Troy Hairston would be questionable to return to the game at NRG Stadium with a rib injury.
On fourth-and-goal from the Browns’ 1-yard line with 13:06 to go in the second quarter, Hairston was blown up and allowed the ball to fall incomplete. Hairston appeared to be holding his groin area when he was tended to by trainers, but it turned out to be a rib injury
