Tuesday's Fantasy Basketball Waiver Wire Pickups: Ryan Rollins, Kelly Oubre, Kon Knueppel and More
Looking at several fantasy basketball waiver wire options near the start of the second week of the season.
It's time for our second fantasy basketball waiver wire story of the week.
Here's the story from Monday - we won't include any of those players in today's article.
Check out fantasy basketball waiver wire options on FantasySP all season long!
Should You Add Ryan Rollins?
Rollins has been added in 14.64% of leagues so far today, bringing his overall mark to 54.03%.
Rollins is playing a bit bigger role after the early-season injury to Kevin Porter Jr. He's started the past two games, playing 29 and 33 minutes - he played 29 minutes in the opener off the bench, which is when Porter got hurt.
So far, Rollins has 36 points, 13 assists and rebounds, eight steals and a block, along with seven turnovers and fouls. He's 12-of-31 from the floor, including just 3-of-16 from 3-point land. Rollins has made all nine of his free throws.
Until Porter is back in the mix, Rollins is a pretty solid deep-league streaming option. If he was shooting it better, he'd be a standard league streamer, but he's not quite there. Utilize him in some deeper leagues until Porter is back, at least.
There's a chance Rollins remains a solid deep-league asset even after Porter is back, so I wouldn't immediately drop him when Porter is back in the mix. Now would be a time to sell high on Rollins, but I'm not sure the return would be worth anything too substantial.
Should You Add Kelly Oubre Jr.?
Oubre is up 12.58% today, and he sits at 70.16% overall.
He erupted for 25 points, 10 rebounds, four assists, two blocks and a steal over 39 minutes on Monday, so that's why he's up so many percent today.
Overall in three games, Oubre has tallied 54 points, 15 rebounds, six assists, three steals and blocks, two turnovers and five fouls. You can see Monday was a breakout performance. He's 18-of-32 from the field so far, including 6-of-15 from deep and he's made all 12 of his free throws.
He's played at least 33 minutes in each game, so he's getting more than enough run to put up some big fantasy totals. He's not going to be super consistent in his showings, but he's an underrated fantasy asset worth some more ownership.
He definitely needs to be rostered in deeper leagues, and as long as he's healthy, he should stick in those leagues all season. When he's playing well, he can be picked up in standard leagues, although again, I'd guess his inconsistent showings means he never sticks at 100% ownership ever.
Check out your roster and see if Oubre is worth a short-term add.
Should You Add Kon Knueppel?
Knueppel is rostered in 56.45% of leagues after a 4.93% increase today.
The rookie has seen his role and usage increase in each of the Hornets' first three games. Knueppel is 16-of-29 from the floor, 11-of-19 from deep and 2-of-4 from the free-throw line on his way to 45 points so far.
Knueppel also has 14 rebounds, four assists and a steal. He's turned the ball over seven times and committed nine fouls.
He's taking advantage of some extra opportunities with several guards on the team out with injuries and ailments. Knueppel played 25 minutes in his first game, but jumped to 30 minutes then 34 minutes.
There's a chance he plays well in this expanded role, and keeps playing that many minutes even after the team is back at full health. The presence of others will deflate his fantasy value a bit, but he still could be a worthwhile fantasy piece in some leagues.
Right now, he's worth adding and utilizing in all leagues. Until he proves it though, most are going to treat him as a deep-league asset only. The No. 4 overall pick from this year was certainly coveted by the team, and I doubt they hold him back if he's delivering, so don't wait too long if you are interested in adding him.
Should You Add Royce O'Neale?
O'Neale is rostered in 11% of leagues, but that could grow after a big performance on Monday.
O'Neale took on an expanded role in an overtime loss to the Jazz, and he made the most of things. Over 46 minutes, O'Neale posted 17 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists and four steals, while having four turnovers and five fouls.
Over four games now, O'Neale has 47 points, 26 rebounds, 12 assists, eight steals and a block, so you can see that Monday was a standout performance. He has eight turnovers and 14 fouls so far, while shooting 16-of-42 overall, 13-of-35 from deep and 2-of-4 from the line.
Despite Monday being a bit of an outlier, O'Neale has delivered decent numbers otherwise. He'll be picked up in more deeper leagues after people see this performance.
I don't see him ever getting to standard league ownership, but he could be a very solid deep-league asset.
Should You Add CJ McCollum?
McCollum is up 5.71% and sits at 94.35% overall.
McCollum is coming off his best game in three tries with his new team, the Wizards. He had 24 points, six rebounds, five assists, two fouls and a turnover across nearly 30 minutes on Sunday.
He has 39 points, 14 rebounds, 13 assists, a steal, three turnovers and five fouls in his first three games combined. McCollum is 14-of-42 overall, 5-of-21 from 3-point land and 6-of-9 from the free-throw line.
It was good to see his last performance, which showed he still has some gas in the tank. I'm not sure if he's going to be that type of player most nights with Washington though, so I'm not on board with adding him in more leagues. I'd want to see that performance a couple more times before we see him get to 100% rostered.
So really, now is a time I'd be looking to sell McCollum high. You could get even more in return if he delivers big in his next game, but I just don't see him being that player with this team, so I'd sell him before his value drops back down.
Should You Add AJ Green?
Green has been added in 5.6% of leagues, bringing his overall mark to 16.13%.
Green is starting early in the season for the Bucks, and he's posted some solid numbers. His best showing was his last one, when he had 20 points, two rebounds and assists, three turnovers and four fouls.
He has 40 points, six rebounds, three assists and a steal across his first three games combined. Green has four turnovers and nine fouls, while shooting 13-of-20 overall. He's 10-of-17 from deep and 4-of-5 from the line.
Green is a 3-point specialist, so he'll likely be an up-and-down fantasy asset this season. I like that he's played 84 minutes already, and has scored it well, while shooting efficiently. That will likely drop as the season progresses, but he's definitely worth some more fantasy ownership right now.
I'd at least add him in some deeper leagues for the time being, just in case this level of play continues. He's worth watching over the next several games, and his own percentage could skyrocket with a couple more big showings.
Should You Add Josh Minott?
Minott is rostered in just 4% of leagues, but he was barely owned even two days ago, so he's on the rise.
Minott tallied 15 points, nine rebounds and one assist, steal and block over 28 minutes in a breakout game on Monday. He has 27 points, 12 rebounds, four assists and steals and a block over his first three games - he didn't play one of the games for Boston.
Boston isn't dealing with any notable injuries outside Jayson Tatum, who is out for the season. That means the team was trying something different after an 0-3 start to the season, and the team won and looked good with Minott starting.
If that continues, he'll have some legit fantasy value, so he's worth adding in some deeper leagues today. If he delivers again in the team's next game, his own percentage could skyrocket too, so don't lose track of Minott if you are considering adding him.
