After Successful Surgery, Derrick Rose Should Be Back For The Season Opener

Posted 576 days ago. via Dime Magazine

It seems strange to say, but Derrick Rose is actually pretty lucky his latest injury is nothing  more serious than a broken face, especially considering all the  knee problems that have hobbled him the past few years and threatened to derail his once-promising career entirely. So it was even  more good news today when, following successful surgery to repair the left orbital fracture he suffered on the very first day of training camp this week, the team announced that his timetable for return is approximately two weeks.

Derrick Rose to resume basketball activities in two weeks following facial surgery

Posted 576 days ago. via Ball Dont Lie

Derrick Rose's latest injury does not look to be a major one. The Chicago Bulls announced Wednesday that the 2012 NBA MVP had undergone successful surgery to repair the left orbital fracture he suffered after taking an elbow to the face in Tuesday morning practice. The team expects him to resume basketball activities in two weeks, which should have him back on the court with plenty of time to prepare for the regular season opener against the Cleveland Cavaliers on October 27.

Hang Time Podcast (Episode 211) Featuring K.C. Johnson and Marc D’Amico

Posted 576 days ago. via Hang Time Blog

HANG TIME HEADQUARTERS — In a city as passionate about its team as Chicago Bulls fans are, and have been for years, it’s becoming increasingly more difficult to make sense of what has become of Derrick Rose. The youngest winner of the NBA’s most coveted individual honor, Rose has found himself at the center of yet another loyalty-splitting situation in the Windy City and beyond.

And it has little to do with his latest injury setback, a broken orbital bone broken in the first training camp practice Tuesday, an injury that required surgery today and will sideline him for two weeks (according to the Bulls). It was Rose’s words a day earlier, during Media Day, that produced mass head scratching. He didn’t speak about winning championships and representing his city, themes that had previously been at the center of any public comments in that setting

Surgery done, Bulls’ Rose will reacquaint with rehab process

Posted 577 days ago. via Hang Time Blog

CHICAGO – No rhyme, no reason. Could be that Derrick Rose is snake-bit, whatever that is. Could be karma or kismet or some other form of lousy luck. Could be that one of his luxury residences is built on a sacred burial ground and the payback stinks.

But the “why him?” of Rose’s litany of injuries, even if it was a part of the Chicago Bulls’ locker room dismay, wasn’t a topic of conversation during the second workout of training camp Wednesday or in their public comments afterward

Before suffering a fractured orbital bone around his left eye that will sideline him for an as-yet-undetermined period of time, Derrick Rose opened Chicago Bulls training camp by addressing — and once again forcefully denying — allegations made in a civil lawsuit filed this summer that he and two other men drugged a woman, broke into her apartment and raped her in 2013.

"I will be proven innocent, but at the same time, it hasn't affected anything," Rose added Monday. "I take it as motivation. I feel like the devil's just working. I feel like I'm on the right track as far as where I want to be at in my life and the direction I want to go.
