The Broncos head to California to see if they can shake off last week’s loss to the Texans. Stick here for live updates and analysis as Denver takes on the Chargers at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
Next man up (12:21 p.m.): If Perine is unavailable, the Broncos elevated running back Tyler Badie from the practice squad. — Ryan McFadden
Good morning from SoFi Stadium (12:14 p.m.): The Broncos face a critical road test today against the Chargers. They need to stack AFC wins down the stretch in order to stay in the playoff mix. RB Samaje Perine (knee) is questionable, but he just worked out on the field and Denver is hopeful that he’ll be available to play, at least in some capacity

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — The Broncos offense made enough plays on Sunday to log their first division road win in three-plus years.
Imagine how dangerous the group might be if Jerry Jeudy finds any semblance of a rhythm down the stretch.
Denver coach Sean Payton and quarterback Russell Wilson made a concerted effort to push the ball down the field to the talented receiver, but he finished with just two catches for 16 yards on six targets in a 24-7 win over the Los Angeles Chargers.
Jeudy had two chances to make catches up the right sideline in the first half, but couldn’t come down with either. Then he had a touchdown in the back corner of the end zone wiped off the board just before halftime when he failed to get his trailing foot down inbounds

INGLEWOOD, Calif. — Broncos right guard Quinn Meinerz exited Sunday’s game against the Los Angeles Chargers because of concern about chest tightness and an elevated heart rate, a source told The Denver Post on Sunday.
Meinerz was transported to a hospital out of precaution but was deemed to be stable.
The third-year guard is in the midst of his best season as a professional. He missed a handful of snaps due to a shoulder injury against Houston last week but otherwise has been healthy this year

The Chargers quarterback injured his finger on a hit from Zach Allen with 3:11 left in the second quarter.

#Chargers coach Brandon Staley announces that QB Justin Herbert has a fractured right index finger. Given where we are in the season, a fracture could mean his season is over. (Ian Rapoport on X)
FF Today's Take: Herbert injured the middle finger on his non-throwing hand earlier in the season and has injured his throwing hand as well. This could put a wrap on Herbert's season as the Chargers stand at 5-8. Easton Stick finished 13 of 24, for 179 yards and 0 TDs. In a season full of backup QBs, we might be ranking Stick for the rest of the season.

The Chargers play their division rival Broncos for the first time this season. The magnitude of this game feels large for both squads. The Chargers would fall to 5-8 with a loss. It’s a must win for Denver as well as they attempt to stay above water in the AFC wild card race.
In most playoff scenarios for LA, the games here on out are must win. Can the Bolts extend their win streak to two after gritting it out in New England next week? Let’s talk about what they need to do for that to happen.
Kellen Moore was partially hired on the basis of his strong red zone conversion percentage in Dallas. The Cowboys’ offense was number one in the league last season in that category. Technically, the Chargers’ placement on this years’ list isn’t bad. They rank ninth in the NFL in red zone touchdown conversion percentage

The Washington Commanders are 4-9 and currently hold the No. 4 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft. A lot can happen over the remaining five weeks, but Washington appears to be in an outstanding position to land a top-five overall pick.
In all likelihood, someone other than current head coach Ron Rivera will be making that selection. Rivera’s days as Washington’s coach and top football executive appear numbered. Of course, under a new owner (Josh Harris), the Commanders were likely making significant changes outside of a Super Bowl appearance
