A.J. Brown in the first half of his @Eagles debut 👀 🦅 6 catches 🦅 128 yards pic.twitter.com/vjRpD26lwY
🚨 For the first time since 2020, Miles Sanders has scored a rushing TD 🚨
Jake Elliott just hit from 57 yards in warmups #Eagles
Not sure why you trade up for a 6-foot-6, 340-pound behemoth in the first round and don't emphasize 5-man fronts on obvious run downs. When Jordan Davis was at NT, the #Eagles defense was effective on early downs and got the Lions into longer third downs. Gashed in 4-DL looks.
AJ Brown has 9 targets DeVonta Smith and the rest of the #Eagles WRs have combined for 2 targets
.@Eagles biggest play to the young season belongs to James Bradberry with a whole lotta help from his friends #flyeaglesfly #BaldysBreakdowns pic.twitter.com/lSwFVXmAnE
Injury Update: DE Derek Barnett (knee) is questionable to return.
Lions finally are flagged for a late hit on Hurts as he slides. #Eagles players come to his defense. Zach Pascal especially.
A.J. Brown has 128 rec yds in the first half against the Lions. Only Dallas Goedert has more rec yds (135) in an entire game for the #Eagles with Jalen Hurts as the starter. @Eagles @1kalwaysopen_ @JalenHurts
Kyzir White had the tip to James Bradberry on his pick six. The FA LB has done nothing but show up since the first day he arrived. #Eagles now cruising, up, 21-7.
Boston Scott with a TD. Eagles have 4 rushing TDs by 4 different players.
Wow. Darius Slay beat by a great throw. Lions are about to be within 3 points. #Eagles defense has been brutal
#Eagles inactives: QB Ian Book, S Reed Blankenship, RB Trey Sermon, TE Grant Calcaterra, DE Tarron Jackson, OL Josh Sills.
No surprise here, but Chauncey Gardner-Johnson is starting at safety opposite Marcus Epps at the start of #Eagles warm-ups.
Josh Sweat shouldn't be tasked with covering a wide receiver. #Eagles
Quez Watkins was first up on KR Britain Covey was first up on PR #Eagles
Jonathan Gannon. opening with only 4-DL and the Lions have gashed the #Eagles on the ground.
Reminder: Nick Sirianni joins the @WIPMorningShow tomorrow at 7:30am.
Brandon Graham leads the #Eagles out of the tunnel
#Eagles rookies making their NFL debuts: DT Jordan Davis C/G Cam Jurgens LB Nakobe Dean OLB Kyron Johnson CB Josh Jobe
Outstanding job by Zech McPhearson (and maybe also Michael Clay) being ready for the onsides kick.
No surprise, C.J. Gardner-Johnson is with the starters in pre-game warmups. It's his first game with the Eagles.
So it begins. Six competitors enter the ring in the quest for #TheFeeley. Ian Book and Josh Sills have the early look of contenders. twitter.com/Eagles/status/…
Eagles get their first sack of the day on a fumbled snap by Goff — sack was a combo between Fletcher Cox and Brandon Graham.
Last two third downs, Eagles have lined up Haason Reddick as an inside linebacker and blitzed him from there. Two conversions.
Britain Covey is first up fielding punts in pregame warmups.
Career offensive snaps for Logan Stenberg: 4. His matchup today: Pro Bowler Javon Hargrave, All-Pro Fletcher Cox, first-round pick Jordan Davis. Ope.
Surprised by Blankenship. Figured they'd try to develop him into a core special teams player. Not surprised by Calcaterra after the Eagles elevated Noah Togiai, who can help on special teams and as TE3. twitter.com/ZBerm/status/1…
The Detroit Lions came up on the short end of a 38-35 shootout against the Philadelphia Eagles. All those points made for some fun highlights for Detroit’s offense.
There were several worthy candidates for Lions play of the game. One came on the first drive when RB D’Andre Swift broke off a 50-yard run to the left on a perfectly blocked play.
Jamaal Williams bouncing off multiple Eagles defenders and sashaying into the end zone for a short TD run is definitely another.
But the winner for the LIons highlight of the game comes from QB Jared Goff and WR DJ Chark. It wasn’t the best day for either of them, but their fourth-quarter TD connection was as pretty as it gets
St. Brown caught eight of 12 targets for 64 yards with one touchdown during Sunday's 38-35 loss to the Eagles.
Many were pessimistic about St. Brown sustaining the production he had down the stretch of last season when both of T.J. Hockenson and D'Andre Swift were banged up and DJ Chark wasn't on the team. However, the second-year receiver kept on rolling in the season opener, matching the most targets he saw in any game last year while finding the end zone for the fifth consecutive game dating back to last season. With that said, St. Brown's 5.3 yards per target wasn't great, especially since he had yet to dip below 6.1 YPT since becoming the focal point of the passing game in 2021. Next up for St. Brown and the Lions is a home matchup against the Commanders.
Nick Sirianni is challenging that completion to T.J. Hockenson.
For all those who need more of Detroit HC and Hard Knocks' star Dan Campbell, the Lions are handing out 20,000 Dan Campbell bobblehead dolls to fans attending today's home opener vs. the Philadelphia Eagles. pic.twitter.com/LcuuqIAt9W
The #Eagles have 38 points and are facing Dan Campbel/Jared Goff. This shouldn't be a game with 4 mins to go.
Swift rushed 15 times for 144 yards with one touchdown while catching three of three targets for 31 yards during Sunday's 38-35 loss to Philadelphia.
Swift exploded out of the gate within an offense that now has an improved passing game in addition to its strong offensive line. While his touchdown upside will clearly be capped this season by Jamaal Williams, who saw four of give goal-line snaps while scoring twice, Swift saw all of the snaps on third down and over double the snaps of Williams overall. The result was 175 total yards for Swift, who still averaged over 6.7 yards per carry if you take out his game-high 50-yard scamper. The third-year pro will look to keep rolling in Week 2 at home against a respectable Commanders defense.
Pretty blatant cheap shot by Alex Anzalone. Clearly knew Hurts didn't have the ball.
Jeff Okudah looking like Jeff Okudah for the first time in a long time
Frank Ragnow is ACTIVE for the Lions for today's opener vs. the Eagles.
Lions safety Tracy Walker will watch the end of the Week 1 matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles from the locker room. Walker was ejected after losing his composure and committing two personal fouls on the same play.
The incident happened in the third quarter of the game, with the Eagles already leading 31-21. Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts slid late on a run play and Walker slammed into him. It was immediately flagged for unnecessary roughness on No. 21, though the intent and late nature of Hurts’ slide made that a questionable choice
C Frank Ragnow is active and will play for the Lions today Detroit's inactives: LB Julian Okwara S Ifeatu Melifonwu G Tommy Kraemer CB Chase Lucas TE James Mitchell DT Demetrius Taylor
Lions starting RG Logan Stenberg has a grand total of 4 snaps in two years on the Lions #Eagles interior defensive line has to dominate that matchup today
No surprise, but it looks like Logan Stenber at RG and Penei Sewell at RT for the Lions today
Detroit had Aidan Hutchinson widen his rush lane on that last 3-6, he set the edge and forced Hurts to either go back inside or run backward -- and the Lions get off the field. That's a small difference, but it's a difference -- to have a player who can do that for you now.
Josh Reynolds just ran out of the tunnel, then stopped to pose like a praying mantis lol
Malcolm Rodriguez was the 188th pick in the draft. He just started at linebacker on opening day. He's the Lions' deepest draft pick to break camp as a starter since 1987
Ben Johnson called offensive plays, as expected. "He did a good job," Campbell said.
Okudah back at the No. 2 CB spot to start the second half. Will Harris on the bench.
Leading the Lions onto the field for the 2022 season is ... Amani Oruwariye.
