Game News
The Cardinals are not expecting Kyler Murray or DeAndre Hopkins to play today per @AlbertBreer pic.twitter.com/z2uI7tilzR
Kliff Kingsbury said he's happy for Texas Longhorns fans that they can enjoy Colt McCoy's performance today after loss to Iowa State this weekend
Looked like the 49ers might have forced a fumble on that Zach Ertz incompletion. He caught it and turned up field before getting hit. Then a third-down sack is negated by a questionable personal foul on Arik Armstead. Kyle Shanahan is not happy.
Chandler Jones took this moment to honor the late Freddie Joe Nunn after surpassing him as the Cardinals all-time sack leader. pic.twitter.com/n97CG1EyEl
James Conner plays for the Arizona Cardinals. That's the tweet. pic.twitter.com/9SbWOYRnyY
Cardinals' RB Chase Edmonds just limped off the field.
this is a great wrinkle, and shows how Kliff is planting long game seeds these days. Arizona ran this flip reverse in the preseason, which SF no doubt saw and scouted and then today dialed up a reverse pass off of it. (Also, great toss by Christian Kirk.) twitter.com/WoodJustRuff/s… twitter.com/PHNX_Cardinals…
Markus Golden has 3 sacks today. Idk what else to say.
Matt Prater good from 26. Cardinals go up 17-0 with 4:02 left in the half.
Defenses give Arizona WR Rondale Moore some of the biggest cushions in the NFL — average of 7.8 yards — to respect his speed. So far, 49ers' soft coverage has allowed a handful of quick catch-and-run yards. They'll have to tighten this up, especially since McCoy is at QB
Now Eno Benjamin is in on the fun with a 21-yard TD run. The Cardinals have 30 points halfway through the third quarter.
Aiyuk makes a beautiful catch down the field but then fumbles, and Jordan Hicks with his second fumble recovery of the game. Isaiah Simmons with the "CPR" punch-out of the ball.
Simmons beat by Kittle on a slant but Murphy comes in to punch the ball loose for a fumble and Jordan Hicks with the recovery. The kind of play the #AZCardinals will need today.
Kliff Kingsbury wanted a flag, and he got one . . . on himself.
Welcome back, Rodney Hudson you're a huge difference maker.
Judging by the way the offensive line is going through warmups, it looks like the #AZCardinals will have Max Garcia starting at right guard today in place of Josh Jones.

The Arizona Cardinals suffered another injury loss on offense in the first quarter of their game against the San Francisco 49ers. Already starting the game without quarterback Kyler Murray or receiver DeAndre Hopkins and A.J. Green, and then losing running back Chase Edmonds on the first play on offense, starting left guard Justin Pugh left the game
Long snapper Aaron Brewer heads to the locker room. That was backup Sean Harlow on that punt.
Not sure how Alford and Jalen Thompson were both there and Brand Aiyuk still made a third-and-goal TD catch from the 11.
The 49ers are beaten up on the interior D-line but Arizona isn't at full strength on the interior O-line. Center Rodney Hudson isn't 100% and LG Justin Pugh just got hurt
QB Chris Streveler in on 3rd-n-1. Conner gets the carry for the first down.
"A good week of practice" … oof, that's what Vance Joseph would always say. twitter.com/maiocconbcs/st…
Third-and-long won't work for the 49ers against the Arizona defense, even without J.J. Watt. Cardinals are #2 DVOA on that side of the ball for a reason
Max Garcia beat quickly by Armstead for a McCoy sack. Drive ends. But they flag Armstead for a blow to McCoy's head.
49ers' TE George Kittle, who returns Sunday from injured reserve after battling a calf injury, will be on a pitch count vs. the Cardinals and is expected to play roughly half the game.
Both could be limited
49ers’ RB Elijah Mitchell (rib) and WR Deebo Samuel (calf), each listed as questionable for Sunday, both are expected to play vs. Cardinals, per sources. But team also uncertain how long each player will be able to go, and is hoping there are no setbacks. (Adam Schefter on Twitter)
FF Today's Take: Deebo's calf injury got worse after last week's game making him a risky fantasy play in Week 9. The 49ers activated Jeff Wilson off IR this week making the running back room more crowded. Both players, along with tight end George Kittle could be limited against Arizona.
Deebo Samuel (calf) expected to play vs. Arizona dlvr.it/SC3XBv
Brandon Aiyuk: First 6 games: 16 targets, 9 receptions, 96 yards, TD Last 2 games: 15 targets, 10 receptions, 134 yards, TD
Kliff Kingsbury out-coached the hell out of Kyle Shanahan today. You can't just say it was the DC. It's Shanahan's staff. He's involved with all strategies. And Kingsbury's staff dominated.
RB Jeff Wilson just spent a long time on a knee at midfield. He seems very appreciative to be back. (BTW, it's a glorious day in Santa Clara). pic.twitter.com/N96su7RQ8E
Chandler Jones sacked former teammate Jimmy Garoppolo to become the Cardinals' all-time sack leader.
Josh Norman deserved a benching, and he got it. Dre Kirkpatrick has replaced him.
Eno Benjamin with his first career TD and he truck-sticks former Cardinal Dre Kirkpatrick to get a 21-yard run. What a game for Kliff Kingsbury and the Cardinals. 31-7.
For those constantly complaining about Mike McGlinchey, welcome to the alternative. Compton has allowed as many sacks today (two) as McGlinchey has given up all season. #49ers
The San Francisco 49ers will have their whole offense as they take on the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon. They released their inactive list for Week 9 and both receiver Deebo Samuel and running back Elijah Mitchell will play.
Both were questionable for the game. Mitchell has a rib injury and Samuel a calf injury.
Who will not dress for the 49ers?
Ward and Hurst were ruled out in the final injury report. The rest are healthy scratches.
The 49ers also get tight end George Kittle, running back Jeff Wilson and kicker Robbie Gould back. They will all play. Kittle and Gould were activated from injured reserve and Wilson was activated from PUP
#49ers inactives: CB Deommodore Lenoir RB Trey Sermon G Aaron Banks DL Charles Omenihu S Jimmie Ward (quad) DT Maurice Hurst WR Travis Benjamin
Kawakami: What should the 49ers do? Cut Josh Norman, set up Trey Lance, hold off on the major firings (for now) theathletic.com/2941640/2021/1…
JaMycal Hasty. This guy laid a nasty chip block on Robert Quinn last week that had Kyle Shanahan joking Hasty can take over for Trent Williams pic.twitter.com/dIz8c2qcwv
Arik Armstead with the sack, but it draws a flag.
Nick Bosa: "I think this year with turnovers, we're not getting them and we're giving them up too much. That's a big sign of a losing team. And that's what we are right now." #49ers
Kingsbury and McCoy have made a mockery of DeMeco Ryans' blitzes all afternoon
Fred Warner: "It was embarrassing, defensively, what we put on tape." #49ers
Kyle Juszczyk did, in fact, make the catch. It's a 10-yard completion after review.
Anything 49ers got/will potentially get from Dee Ford this year should be treated as found money. I see the actual hinge points of the edge rush as Samson Ebukam and (starting today) Charles Omeniho. I'd direct scrutiny in that direction. Ford expectations were zero post-2020
Travis Benjamin was prominent in the 49ers' lineup the last time they played the Cardinals. Today he's down, Jauan Jennings is up and the 49ers have their bull moose lineup in on offense ... theathletic.com/2803929/2021/0…
#49ers defense allows touchdown run. Or Emmanuel Moseley did.
Arden Key's best play as a 49er so far comes out of a third-down NASCAR package. He lined up as a DT
Something to monitor for 49ers: No Javon Kinlaw, D.J. Jones injured ... it means that Kentavius Street, who got only scant snaps last week, has to hold the line in the running game.
Another missed tackle. This time for Azeez Al-Shaair, and the Cardinals convert a third-and-18 on a check down.
